CarlSMay 29, 2008I give it a 9 instead of a 10 because they toned down the strings a little too much, but otherwise I think this album is brilliant and intense, and well worth sitting through 15 minute songs for.

Silver Mount Zion were already way ahead of many of their contemporaries, but 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons sees them blazing past even further, up and away, to some unexplored, perhaps dangerous, but tremendously exciting new horizons of artistic expression.
-
It's not their best work to date, but it definitely taps into a deep well of both anger and despair.

13 Blues… scores 10 in almost every sense, but to award such an accolade would imply this is a record never to be bettered.
