Whether he is in a rush to get out of his record deal with Def Jam or not, 4REAL 4REAL is still a good album from YG. Let’s see how long it will take for him to release #5.

Not his best, but still amazing album. YG pays respect/tribute to late Nipsey Hu$$le, while also creating an outstanding project, allowing himself and his features to shine, including DaBaby on the remix of the albums first single, Stop Snitchin. A-, 91%.

With production wizards such as Mustard, Hit-Boy, Cubeatz and more on deck, the production checks all the boxes as steroidal bass and encompassing synths permeate the project for modest results.

YG’s songs about women are just clumsy from a basic storytelling standpoint, rehashing the same clichés that you’d find on a Hotep Facebook group. It stunts the flow of 4REAL 4REAL. ... But while he oftentimes plays the role of hyper-masculine rapper, he also defines his anxiety in deeply traumatic and thorough ways. He has a knack for boisterous exuberance, stressing the finer things while being relatable to regular people on every block in every town.

Its cover inscribed with "In loving memory of Nipsey Hussle," 4REAL 4REAL would be the most subdued YG album even without that stirring reflection.
