    I wrote this review only as a Khruangbin fan initially as I had never heard of Toure before this project was announced. since I started listening to Khruangbin back in 2017 I have been absolutely engrossed in every release and am blown away by their ability to make only 3 instruments sound completely different with every release. the reinventions and the collaborations are just sublime.I wrote this review only as a Khruangbin fan initially as I had never heard of Toure before this project was announced. since I started listening to Khruangbin back in 2017 I have been absolutely engrossed in every release and am blown away by their ability to make only 3 instruments sound completely different with every release. the reinventions and the collaborations are just sublime. ALI is no different only to I being in my opinion their greatest work and Toure's vocals have transcended me and have me hooked to a language I do not understand. I feel this week I will be researching the lyrics and translations so I can fully immerse myself into such a fantastic selection of songs. there will be many people like me who discover Toure from this project, and there will no doubt be people who discover Khruangbin, but I am incredibly envious of any person out there who were fans of both Toure & Khruangbin and now get to witness these two powerhouses of world music collaborate and make what I feel is pure perfection.… Expand

    There is a genuine synergy here. Khruangbin have crafted oneiric Manding inflected backdrops as though they have found what they were looking for all along, and Touré settles into them like he’s just got home. [Dec 2022, p.67]

    The album's production is warm, spacious, and full of depth, but not in an overwhelming way. Ali is casual-sounding yet inspired, and a tremendously inviting listen.
