This album both reminds me of what made the band great and marks a new day in terms of songwriting and intensity. Dark, ferocious, elegant and concise and words that best describe this record.

The band expertly evolves and embarks on somewhat new territory with songs like, "Gloom Forever", "Colder than Death" and "Crisis of Faith." At the same time maintaining their established sound
This album both reminds me of what made the band great and marks a new day in terms of songwriting and intensity. Dark, ferocious, elegant and concise and words that best describe this record.

The band expertly evolves and embarks on somewhat new territory with songs like, "Gloom Forever", "Colder than Death" and "Crisis of Faith." At the same time maintaining their established sound and energy with songs. "The World is Blue", "American Death" and "Lower Than Life." Lyrically this album is dark, heavy and venomous. Clocking in at 20 minutes this album pulls no punches. Can't wait to see what's next.

American Nightmare is not convincing or consistent.

Already legends, American Nightmare's iconic reputation should only be enhanced by this mighty return. [17 Feb 2018, p.52]

The musical flourishes and pitch-black noir that run like a current underneath American Nightmare bring the album into a wider world.
