Wow. what a p*s*ing match this is between love and hate.

People can try to make all of the objective arguments they want about something which is completly subjective. But at the end of the day it's only as good as your desire to keep listening to it. I feel regret that this was not the follow up to the fame monster. Aura is the perfect opening to the song; gaga updates the idea of people wearing masks, suggesting instead we all have our burqas (and we all want someone to remove our burqa). I love Venus! Aura is the perfect opening to the song; gaga updates the idea of people wearing masks, suggesting instead we all have our burqas (and we all want someone to remove our burqa). I love Venus! This is Gaga falling in love. She's been in a healthy relationship and in this song I hear her discovering the man that makes her happy. G.U.Y. is the gaga we all fell in love with. It's an ode to her former self. That woman is still here, but she's experienced more life. Sexxx Dreams the album's sex anthem. A gift to her fans, Sexxx Dreams is gaga's honest feelings about her sexuality. Jewel's N Drugs proves her knowledge of the genre. You know, I am glad she can play piano and have knowledge of classical music and still appreciate the hip-hip/rap genre as well. Its as catchy and listenable as any other rap bop on the radio. MANiCURE's title reminds me of Marilyn Manson's tendency for wordplay in his song titles (sAINT, mOBSCENE). Any straight girl can listen to this song and get it (also the secret gay anthem). ARTPOP 2nd best song on the album. This song is about love. Love is an art. Love is popular culture. Lady Gaga's ARTPOP is love. I'm a romantic person and so of course the song ARTPOP has my favorite lines on the album: "Lover's kites/ are flown on beaches for public sight/ the color palette you choose/ can profit you" With the song ARTPOP concludes the first half of the album. The second half steps away from Gaga's personal life to her public persona, but most importantly the second half of the album is devoted to her fans. Listening to her music in the second half I hear her messages to me, her fan. Swine is one of the songs I wish she would have released 2 years ago in 2011 when EDM and dubstep were fresh and dominating the contemporary music scene. The most aggressive song of her career. Swine addresses anger, the emotion we all feel but rarely deal with so directly. So sad that she released it this late it would have smashed just a few years ago. Next is the obvious gay anthem: Donatella. A hyperbole of the stereotypical gay dream of exuberant superiority. Many people don't understand it because its an inside-joke between Gaga and her gay fans. Fashion! in my opinion is the best song on ARTPOP because it is the quintessential Gaga song. Gaga has her private self and her public persona, but what ties them together is her unique, stunning, unrivaled fashion sense. People may criticize her music or her talent, but no one can deny she knows how to put together a look. I really wish Fashion was the single for 2013 after applause, its such a groovy tune that would have fit in great with radio hits like Royals and Get Lucky. (Also I love hearing the seductive man speaking french in the end of the song, turns me on like you don't even know). Dope is the ballad I prefer on ARTPOP. It's such a masculine song, and really clues me in into just how well Gaga understands how men think. Originally a love song dedicated to her fans, Dope transformed from "I Wanna Be With You" into a rehab anthem. Produced crystal clear anyone who has ever made a mistake can relate to the tone of the song despite its off-putting delivery. Expand

A consistently good album. No duds. The "worst" two songs are Donatella and Fashion, which I wouldn't even consider "bad." It's rare to have a cohesive pop album these days; they're usually filled with duds left and right or stacked horrendously with the highlight tracks first. Overall, as perfect as a pop album can get in today's industry.

As for the rest like Jewels and Drugs and Dope I didn't exactly like them, you know what, I hated them, I couldn't pass half of them with out switching to another songs quickly. As for Aura, I was disappointed, why?! I never thought that Lady GaGa would make a song that I would like the demo version more that the official version, the demo version was way better, I mean, it was perfect, why did she scr*w it up?! Both songs have the exact chorus and the enigma popstar is fun part which I loved the most, but the voice that sound like,uh, I don't how to describe it. Oh and I forgot about Do What You Want which belong to the great songs of the album category, it fun and I can jam to it, and her voice match perfectly with R. I like that cosmic electronic atmosphere and the energy of the album. It's like all her albums mixed together. Those songs are so free. There are artists whose albums sound almost the same. Gaga's albums sound completely different from one another, but they have this Disco Gaga spice. I think the main purpose of this album to have a complete freedom and party, to forget all the insecurities and all the sad ballads, just have a complete techno raver pride of your identity! When listening to the whole album, in the end listening to GYPSY it makes you feel like a winner, like you’ve gone through so much and you just want to cry, but then that techno beat makes you feel so proud of what you’ve achieved and it just suddenly takes you to whole another dimension. It is very good, because that‘s how Gaga viewed it. That was the purpose to make it not so serious like her previous albums. It still has a big message, but not everyone can understand that, it‘s more about the artistry! ART and POP can belong together. I like the effort she put to work with Marina Abramovic and Jeff Koons, they really inspired her and teached her so many things and how to control her Aura. Different methods to free her mind. When watching her interviews and when she explains ARTPOP it is exactly what she has done, she represented what she wanted so perfectly. Not everyone has to like it, she made ARTPOP because of music, because of artistry, not because of money, sales or haters. Speaking of VENUS, Greek mythology and Ancient Greek Dance It represents the beauty of being a woman. the beauty of women. I think it's brilliant and still no one will ever make something like gaga, she's unique and individual, you can't compare her to somebody. She is where she is, in her place and somebody is in their place whether you like it or not. I respect her work, It's clearly something new and different, It has another energy (of love). Those who complain that her performances becoming worse and worse, I think you just don't get the main IDEA and purpose of this performance. You know she‘s not just another „POP ARTIST“ or whatever you call it. She‘s PERFORMANCE ARTIST and that is much more than you think, that is different and comparing her to Katy Perry or Kim Kardashian or whatever you name it, just doesn‘t make sense. If she wanted to create different kind of album with another message she would have done that. All in all, this is just my opinion and you don't have to accept it and agree with it. I prefer listening to Rock’n’Roll but that is what I had on mind since listening to ARTPOP, Gaga is the only artist that makes me love POP Music, and of course, I do like oldie but goldie Pop music, but just definitely not nowadays pop music. Have a good day! Expand

Artists like these should be honored for writing and producing almost every bit of the album without megahit songwriters and producers hired by the label. While Born This Way may have been a more cohesive pop album, clearly trying to blend 80s rock and electronic pop to varying degrees of success, for some, it just didn't hit the same pleasure center of her earlier albums.

Born This Way featured some of Gaga's best songs, and best songwriting to date (Marry the Night, Schiesse, Hair, Edge of Glory) but was seen as being dragged down by all of its artistic pretensions and messaging.

Gaga herself stated that her previous record was an attempting at being mature, and ARTPOP is her allowing herself to be a bit immature. Through that lens it is easy to understand ARTPOP's mission: to make you dance.

And so ARTPOP comes with a much higher ratio of outright bangers, all reminding us of the dizzying diversity of her musical influences as she genre-trips through the album's 60 minutes.

This is a fun, immature pop album which, while perhaps empty of meaningful commentary, was designed to be exactly that. They are vague allusions to high art, but she really just wants you to dance again.

Is it a musical regression? Not quite. Gaga experiments with a far broader spectrum of genres than before (even a respectable attempt at electro-trap) and has incorporated new influences that should fuel interesting developments in her future albums, when her career is in a place that allows for even more musical experimentation.

Meanwhile, she has added another batch of career defining jams to her cannon, and has shown that even though she is clearly moving in a direction that responds to some of her more recent criticisms, she is still, without a doubt, her own woman

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Track by track:

DO WHAT U WANT: ¿qué se entiende por cuerpo?

She created an album of possibilities. The best part of ARTPOP is the way Gaga joined art + pop. The art cover is stunning and she invited Jeff Koons to make a sculpture statue in order to immortalize her image in the music's world. The album has a mix of Pop, R&B, Electro and Hip Hop, showing the diversity of Gaga as artist and songwriter. Another note to make about ARTPOP is that sheShe created an album of possibilities. May ARTPOP be experienced as our own minutes of fame, ourselves in the spotlight so gracefully cast over us by the enigmatic superstar, with her love as big as her voice. A phenomenal album. Expand

The melodies here are fine, they do a job, but nothing backs up Gag's Warholian rhetoric or scales the barmy heights of Bad Romance. [Jan 2014, p.116]

While it’s stronger than the messy ‘Born This Way’, Artpop feels little more culture-quaking than a good collection of fun, silly, well-crafted pop songs.

This is two albums in a row now that were basically a bit boring, and she needs to sort it out soonish please.
