I feel the self-doubting, always anxious analysis going on through the album that is tempered by my adult body's chemical tendency to jade otherwise overwhelming experiences. It is an emo album that touches mature, human problems in a modern world, where most emo never grows beyond highschool fantasy. I hope they explore diversity in their soundmaking, because Oso Oso's songcraft and lyrics are top notch. Expand

Basking in the glow is a great title for this record because it’s positively radiant. If you like warm, bright & catchy guitar pop - think Tiger’s Jaw or, for dinosaurs like me, maybe 80’s Pixies - you can’t go wrong with this one. Just don’t let yourself be put off by the lone square peg, the 2-1/2 minute ‘intro.’ Either start at Track 2, or notice what sounds like a ticking clock in the background and imagine it’s a countdown to being whisked away from your careworn existence and transported to a dimension of warmth and light and joy. You can’t listen to Track 6, ‘a morning song’, without wishing it could fill your whole day. Collapse

Solid overall, but runs out of ideas much too quickly. The moodily wistful atmosphere of the strong first half is unfortunately undermined by a disappointing second that's content to fall back on tired indie rock tropes, and the result is a batch of songs that feel painfully generic, safe, and samey towards the end.

"The View", "Dig", "One Sick Plan"

Best emo album i´ve heard in a long time. Oso Oso brought really refreshing and lively album. Instrumental parts of album are beautiful, songs are catchy, lyrics good enough and production is solid too. I wish there were more bands like Oso Oso these days.

Best songs: Basking in the Glow, Impossible Game, Charle

While it is not as strong of an album to me as the Yunahon Mixtape was, this is an incredibly wonderful album best embodying the recent emo revival.

“one sick plan,” an acoustic performance presented through an intentionally lo-fi style that crackles like a demo and feels like a stick-figure drawing dropped into a pile of Picassos. It’s a good song, but an odd production choice. These are minor quibbles, of course, within the context of an otherwise brilliant work. basking in the glow is not only the fulfillment of the promise Lilitri showed on the yunahon mixtape, it’s one of the best pop-rock records of 2019.

Lilitri’s dedication to concision and coherence doesn’t come at the expense of subtle, sharp songwriting.

It's simple yet non-formulaic and finds the band providing another batch of delectable mid-tempo jams.
