DecepticonPomOct 31, 2005Sometimes too much going on, often in danger of being incoherant yet occasional flashes of astonishing genius echoing YFIP still remain.

StephenYOct 7, 2005Considering the lofty heights achieved by You Forgot It In People, this simply hits the ground with more of a thud than a bang. Easily the biggest disappointment of the year.

Jean-MichelFMar 6, 2007By no way as good as their first. An highly overrated, unfocused effort. Not an essential one.

May 10, 2011Didn't feel complete or as cohesive as it should have but is overall a satisfying listen. It's definitely much better than anything after You Forgot it in People. This does beg the question, why haven't these guys taken a more post rock approach to some of their later works? Now that would be brave.

KylePOct 5, 2005A shambling, over-rated mess. I really tried hard to like this, but after repeated listens, it will go into the dusty never-played section of my cd collection. A huge disappointment!

Awards & Rankings
-
BillboardA richly textured collection of songs that further explore the possibilities of the group's grooving dream-pop blueprint but stays just weird enough not to attract the ear of mainstream radio.
-
BlenderThe album's plush and detailed enough to invite extensive exploration, and varied enough to not get exhausting. [Oct 2005, p.135]

This exercise in excess makes the ambitious You Forgot It in People seem positively understated by comparison.
