Groundbreaking. Utterly indescribable; one must simply give their ears the blessing of a listen in order to understand its grandeur. i loved this album for a few standout songs and also for the fact that king princess is incredibly talented but at times the album failed to keep me interested the whole way through, too many skips to give it a higher review. Despite this i still love king princess and i cant wait till her next project

Incredible debut album where a 20-year-old with all the requisite feelings of that early decade in a person's life has the skill of someone far more experienced in music and especially production. It's a euphoric ride through emotions that we can all relate to, from young love to lust to exquisite heartbreak. In short, it makes you feel all of the feelings!

Along with her pop hooks, what makes Straus' music so indelible on Cheap Queen is her strong sense of self. As King Princess, Straus is both the chilled-out R&B loverman and genderqueer lesbian songwriter, a tangible combination that's anything but cheap, and always real.

When honesty and articulation match up, Cheap Queen hits its stride.

Cheap Queen is more melancholy than “1950,” more introspective than her ode to “Talia,” less ebullient than the assured bedroom-romping funk of follow-up single “Pussy Is God,” the latter of which was co-written with Stenberg. Cheap Queen is also more vulnerable.
