They really are the most exciting band on the planet right now, and I'm glad I'm here for it

"Energy, good energy, it's my currency." Indeed it is. And Amyl and the Spitters have it in abundance. On the surface they're a solid punk act, but there's more going on, or rather seething, under the surface. I'm constantly surprised how simple the general song structures are, but with what depth they're performed. I haven't seen them live, but if the videos of live performances are to be"Energy, good energy, it's my currency." Indeed it is. And Amyl and the Spitters have it in abundance. The first time I heard Amyl and the Sniffers it was just before the release of their first album. It had been a long while since I heard something with such energy and soul. Amy is a memorizing front woman. She gives it all she has while the rest of band lays down the music for her to do what she does best.
Amyl and the Sniffers falls somewhere between 70's punk and 80's small town beer

Amyl and the Sniffers falls somewhere between 70's punk and 80's small town beer drinkers, sporting mullets and jean jackets. The music is raw, but still catchy. The lyrics are simple, but poetic. Amy tells you what she wants, what she hates and what she thinks. If I was going to try to fully explain what's different about their sophomore album, the best way to explain is a small town rock band making music for themselves and their friends got to see the world, meet new people and have their minds opened to new possibilities. They still do what they do, but with a new perspective.

Melbourne Australia punk rock baby. This takes me back to the 70's in a good way. The music is grunge hard driving guitar work with tight lead guitar. The vocals are crisp and clear quite a hit down under! Security is a single release already.

More highly flammable melodic buzz-punk, now with added flecks of Stranglers atmospherics. [Oct 2021, p.72]

Comfort to Me transports us to a familiar, paradoxical world: uncertain, harsh, and magnetic.

Although the album marks itself by themes of love and growth, it does seem torn between committing to a softer side or being rambunctious. However, there can be a perfect duality when portraying that if done right, which Amyl and the Sniffers are getting closer to with each progressing release.
