markfJul 1, 2009Not their best album, but certainly one of their most daring. Performing the songs live and witnessing them was really quite exhilarating at the Troubadour.True, the album, per se, may be only worth a 9, but that live performance, where I had to keep Ebbot from falling on my wife and daughter, makes it worth +1.

AlrikLMar 7, 2009One of the greatest Rock bands...ever. On record, they're pros with a distinctive sound. As a live act, they have the ability to conquer any venue. To fully understand the grandeur of this band, one MUST see them perform live. A complete and religious experience with the harmful fanaticism left out. Hits you like a freight train to the chest.

MarcTheSharkMar 6, 2009Record of the Year, IMHO... how come this band can't get arrested in the U.S.? So much better than the stuff Pitchfork orders you to listen to.

Communion is easily the most consistent yet visionary and expansive recording Soundtrack have released yet, and proves beyond the shadow of a doubt, they are, even without mass acceptance, an impressively grand rock band.

It's a perfect set for folks who think Oasis are too humble, that Pink Floyd lacked ambition. TSOOL lay down Stonehenge riffs and cosmic mumbo jumbo so earnestly and expertly that nearly every outfit they raid from the classic-rock closet flatters them.

The sheer heft of Communion makes it hard to absorb the songs individually while discouraging the casual spins necessary to embed them in your skull. But almost every song sounds terrific in the moment.
