Often times a label change is necessary for an artist to grow and mature. When the Brother's signed with V2 everyone expected the hard nosed doom-pop with the jackyl screams to cease. This isn't the case. With this album we find a new lease on the musical talents of The Blood Brothers, but they haven't softened up a bit. This album is the soundtrack to a murder already in Often times a label change is necessary for an artist to grow and mature. When the Brother's signed with V2 everyone expected the hard nosed doom-pop with the jackyl screams to cease. This isn't the case. With this album we find a new lease on the musical talents of The Blood Brothers, but they haven't softened up a bit. This album is the soundtrack to a murder already in progress, and it gives hope to the music industry as a whole. With such pitiful force-fed media pop as Good Charlotte, and Simple Plan claiming to be punk, we've blurred the edges between good music and hollywood fluff. Whitney, Blilie and the rest of the BB crew are here to help redraw the line. Let us not forget that in oder to make music it takes some degree of intelligence. This album proves that you can be smart, innovative, and pioneering without losing your edge. Although not an easy listen for beginners or wanna-be's this album shows how much The Blood Brothers have changed since the inception of This Adultery is Ripe. If you're looking for something to pump you up with hope that Clear Channel will someday fall then throw this record on, and let the annhiliation of formulaic bands commence. An absolute must for those who's tastes venture outside of the Ruben Studdard / Kelli Clarkson world. Expand

Well, I got this album about a week and a half ago, its all ive listened to, I am truely in love with this band. They are amazing. The lovley voice of the man screaming, sounding almost as if he were a woman is the best. I cant say there is a single song I dont like by them. The sadistic lyrics are wonderful. I love them....so much!

true punkrock in every sense of the word. more punkrock than all claiming to be so. an album so original it warrants multiple listens just to capture it's complete genius.

Not the greatest cd they've made. It suffers in the second half, and at times falls apart. Still, it hints at something that, perhaps on another album, might change the world of hardcore even more than this album's two masterpieces for predecessors.

This album, which happens to be their best, is probably one the best hardcore albums if it is hardcore at all which is sort of relieving in a way because many of the hardcore stuff is starting to get repetitious, and now we have the blood brothers to rely on if yet again another song fails on the radio.

This is definitely one incredible album, an album that any average band would absolutely kill to make. However, this is definitely not what the Blood Brothers are capable of. Peacock Skeletons with Crooked Feather, Trash Flavored Trash, Feed Me to the Forest, and Devastator but it is most certainiy lacking the elements that made the Brothers so raw and exciting. Don´t get me wrong this is still exciting, but it just does not have the same feel and energy to it. It is amazing though. Expand

A great album, with fantastic sound production worthy of its power. But, just for a moment, try to imagine it recorded in a basement besides the washing machine, all blurry and confused. Try to imagine yourself trying to endure the first half... Ah, the joys of major studios.

people told me their style changed, but i didnt expect this. WOW! alittle toned down from "burn piano island burn", but that means nothing for the brothers. they still have that harsh, noisy sound that they have forced us to love over the years. a definite must for indie/noise fans, and fans of old blood brothers.

This album is an orgasm in my ear everytime i hear it. I absolutely love the vocals because everyone hates them, it only makes it that much better over how fucking great they sound already.

I like that it's different, but hate the vocals. My twin brother loves it and punishes me by playing this album constantly. Trust me- lots of music grows on me over time. This never has.

  1. I actually find it kind of funny that the group has managed to land on a large label with this release, because even though it's a bit more polished sounding than anything they've done before, I simply can't imagine anything on "Crimes" playing on anything other than college radio.
  2. While most of the songs on Crimes stand out as being extremely well written musically and lyrically, the production needs an extra mention for being flawless.
