Dance Fever is a horror movie wrapped in the beauty of spring. It's an album of resurrection and rebirth, but also vampires. 'Morning Elvis' is devastatingly beautiful, and 'Dream Girl Evil' is the epitome of sexual desire and fragile masculinity. "The Bomb" is a shockingly country track, but it WORKS! "Daffodil" is an explosion of spring, the "Mother" of the album. "Cassandra" andDance Fever is a horror movie wrapped in the beauty of spring. There isn't a single bad song on this album, everything flows perfectly together. And "KIng", "Free", and "My Love" are some of the strongest singles to come from the band. "Girls Against God" makes me nostalgic for something I didn't even experience, making me wish to shout out to the sky in grief and fury but also for the beauty. "Heaven is Here" is experimental and fun to chant along with. "Back in Town" is a beautiful ballad as well. But seriously, there isn't a single bad song on this album. The strongest work to come from Florence yet. Expand

The titles listed above are my personal highlights but I would rather call them personal favorites amongst an album full of special songs. Dance Fever is like ever past FATM album in one and then some. From theme, to music, to lyrics, to visuals...Absolute triumph. Expand

It's no surprise that an artist like Florence to be able to outdo herself release -after-release. Dance Fever is one of her most authentic album to date. I am not afraid to put this side-by-side the magnum opus How Big How Blue How Beautiful.
Highlights from the project: King, Choreomania, My Love, Restraint, The Bomb, Morning Elvis, Daffodil & Back In Town

it's a magical album, it's new, but it maintains an essence already existing in previous albums, it brings to a large extent meaningful and comprehensive elements. I missed hearing something like this, is it strange to say that it's new and somehow brings nostalgia? Dance Fever definitely made it into my top 3 albums of 2022.

"King" had been and still is the banger it was intended to be providing a sonic preview of "dance fever" subtle left turn. Conceived on the forefront of the pandemic it is draped in a claustrophobic solitude and depressive episodes ("sometimes i wonder if i should be medicated/if I'd feel better just lightly sedated/im on fire but im trying not to show it") . This record has a glimmer of Fiona apples fetch the bolt cutters but in the most respectful way. It's my firstly enjoyably consistent record from her and it's so good that if she were to retire this would be a valid send off. Cant wait to fall deeper in love with this as i get more time with it. Would not be surprised if my scores for it grew overtime. Expand

Dance Fever perfectly juxtaposes between the conflicting ideas of good and evil. Florence Welch takes us on a journey of beauty and horror in her best album yet. Welch's 5th album is euphoric, spectacular and ahead of its time.

I suppose I was hoping for some more energy in albums such as Lungs or Ceremonials. By the time I finished the album, it had some moderately interesting songs, such as Dream Girl Evil, or Cassandra, but ultimately I was just glad I finished the entire album. No Machine=no passion. Florence's voice sounds tired and pale. And I thought High As Hope is a bad album....

Heaven is Here, My Love and Cassandra are the highlights, nothing overwhelming as the first three albums they released. Even High as Hope is more cohesive and has better melodies all the way long.

I think I'll need to listen to it more, but first listening was good. Thought it would be more dancey, but it's ok. There are some terrific songs here, but two or three feel like filler. Anyway, there's no doubt that Florence Welch has grown to be a very mature singer-songwriter that doesn't shy away from writing about personal and mental health problems.

Florence never disappoints. As I said, it took me years to get into her music, even bought Ceremonials and How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful; for this one I had high expectations. And as usual, never disappointed with Florence. My ultimate favourite: My Love.

The best Florence and the Machine album to date: encapsulating all the things that made them unique from previous albums (the frantic energy of Lungs, the grandeur of Ceremonials, the vulnerability and aggression of How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful and the intimacy and lyricism of High as Hope), but with a newfound maturity in terms of vocal performance, contents and overall arrangements. This is a masterfully crafted albums, at a new high of inspiration, curated in each detail to create a masterpiece for our frantic, dark times: standout tracks are King, Free, Cassandra, Choreomania, Morning Elvis and Dream Girl Evil - but the whole album, with not a single filler, is an explosion of catharsis and creativity, greatness and poetry like only Florence Welch can create. Welch's powerful vocals shine on this record through anthemic synthpop, baroque pop and folk balladry, as the band experiment with new textures, aligning with the inspiration drawn from the Pre-Raphaelite tradition of embracing contrast within art.

Dance Fever sounds like Welch’s most conceptual album yet, but in a fashion that allows the most catharsis her work has conjured since “Shake It Out”. Although much more theatrical than the honest but somehow boring High as Hope, this record asks its listener to sit a bit with the noise in our heads that might usually make us so uncomfortable.
