Uma explosão artística de uma das maiores compositoras do século. Lana caminha entre o terno e profano de uma forma singular, o misto de sentimentos ouvindo esse álbum é inevitável. Em DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE'S A TUNNEL UNDER OCEAN BLVD Del Rey abre a porta das suas lembranças, dores e desejos.

Sorry I doubted you Lana, first rating was 1, second was 6 and now unequivocally 10, that let’s me know that it is as divisive as it should be as a global artistic statement in this climate, whilst I am inclined to agree that some songs could do with a little pruning, no one would have told Leonard Cohen to trim a track, and the moments of genius are what secures a legacy and a reputationSorry I doubted you Lana, first rating was 1, second was 6 and now unequivocally 10, that let’s me know that it is as divisive as it should be as a global artistic statement in this climate, whilst I am inclined to agree that some songs could do with a little pruning, no one would have told Leonard Cohen to trim a track, and the moments of genius are what secures a legacy and a reputation for greatness, in this case particularly on ‘A&W’ which stands with her finest works and the hook “This is the experience of being an American Whore” has given Taylor Swift’s “Karma is a cat purring in my lap cos it loves me” a run for it’s money as lyric of the year, the melodramatically orchestrated title track is a grower, ‘The Grants’ with it’s beautiful refrain “I’m gonna take mine of you with me” and the whimsical ‘Paris, Texas’ with SYML of ‘Where’s My Love’ fame. Lana is able to combine these themes with lyrics and sonics that get you emotional from the second the songs begin to play. One of the biggest stand out tracks for me personally was track 9 ‘fingertips.’ Del Rey writes her soul on paper, she speaks on criticisms she has been subjected to in the past whilst also speaks about the things that torment her in the present, although sometimes it can get a little confusing as the song barely follows any pop structure, through and through the song is our insight to the healing process that lana is going through in her life right now and as always where things might seem grey and dull the light will always find a way to shine in. LDR made her debut with the song Video Games. At that time, she was a girl who only had love in her eyes. Her concept of love was "You are my heaven". The first album was even called Born to Die, which means Born to Love. A young girl loves passionately, asks what love is in the world, and knows how to make love between life and death. Underneath the poignancy and heroic romance, it has a somewhat middle-of-the-road feel. Lana's music image can be said to be the ultimate hedonism, Ride and the mv are her important benchmarks, "Dying young and playing hard", she is sitting on the tire, ignoring everything, as if the world is still, like a pendulum Keep shaking forever. Eleven years later, this album marks a key landmark in Lana's life, with the theme of death. But the difference from before is that when Lana talked about death, she was actually talking about love. At the age of 20, she knew what life and death are, and she was somewhat "sorrowful for writing new words". Approaching her forties, after experiencing the death of her relatives, she finally looked back at her surroundings and realized how short life is, and she cannot take a single cloud with her, and can only cherish the memories of good times. The Grants begins with a song that sets the tone, starting from a church hymn, like a carol at a funeral. Lana Del Rey's real name is Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, and she obviously wrote it to her family. Lana's uncle, David Grant, died in 2016 while climbing the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Here is a song by American country singer John Denver, because Denver died of the same accident, and his last name is Denver, which happens to be the capital of Colorado. A stroke of God's will. John Denver expressed his love for his hometown by describing mountains and rivers throughout his life. Here "I'm gonna take mine of you with me" is intertextual with his famous song Country Road Take Me Home. After my death, the only thing that matters is my closest These people, they are my family, and it is obvious that Lana here already considers her lover as family. What a romance and what a change, she used to write about death and love, you are the only one in my life, but she herself is empty, now she understands that her life is enriched and precious by her loved ones, and my The family bloodline has you, and my next life will have you. Kintsugi can be said to be The Grant's sister. She explained in more detail the deaths of three relatives. She only attended the last funeral of her grandmother due to her busy schedule. Kintsugi means that when Japan restores cultural relics, it does not restore the original appearance, but fills it with gold and silver. At the end of the second chorus here, I think it is the most romantic and affectionate love poem written by Lana Del Rey. The death of a loved one and witnessing death will only make you cherish the remaining time and the people in front of you. Lana thought, Jack Donoghue would be The one who accompanies her until the end. Here be with you and Donoghue's trisyllabic and final rhyme fit so well, and the moment she sings his last name is the most soulful tone I've ever heard Lana in her career. Outro's vocal really perfectly expresses the golden shimmer, and even a slightly torn sound in the part of singing Ah reproduces this skill intentionally or unintentionally. These two songs, in my opinion, are a new romantic peak in Lana's career. As a digression, because The Grant wrote about grandmother, the time calculation should also be written for Donoghue. I also listened to Jack Donoghue’s music carelessly before. He is the originator of the experimental music school witch house. He himself is a producer + rapper. In this album Lana has two rap songs for the first time, which shows the influence of her boyfriend on her. Let the Light In, a collaboration with my friend Father John Misty (who I also like very much personally), can be said to be the sequel to Kintsugi, and Bridge is also very full of emotions. Lana thinks about what is the most precious memory because of the death around her, and the other side is forgetting. Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd is a song about forgetting. Under Ocean Avenue, there is an unfinished tunnel. No matter how exquisitely decorated the craftsmen are, it will always be sealed underground. On the surface, this song should be written for ex-boyfriends. The only two promotions for the album were selected at the addresses of the two ex-boyfriends. The shout here is not to forget me, and the surface layer is nostalgia for old love. Harry Nilsson, who appears in this song, I think can be said to be the singer closest to Lana's aesthetic except Billie Holliday. LDR's nostalgia for the golden age of America is an eternal theme throughout his artistic career. Expand

Ocean Blvd brings all the amazing elements of Lana's career. The trap sounds, the piano, and even the comeback of all the strings. She encases you in her trance of personal stories, familial traveities and critics' harsh words towards her. She does not care about making a hit, she wants to tell her story and leave people to listen and learn from her lessons of life.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In this record Lana Del Rey is probably at her highest. People may not like her music as she reinvents herself once again, through long melancolic and sad piano ballads, but also more of hip hop traps. She’s probably never ever been this close to her audience, singing freely about life in general, but also as a woman who experienced deep relationships, in a sad way must take some bravery. She doesn’t care about reviews, and doesn’t care of how she was mistreated by the industry. She’s being her, her as a whole. Grandfather please stand on the shoulders of my father while he’s deep sea fishing, truly shows what a genius Lana Del Rey truly is. She’s making the kind of music no one else could even make, with lyrics so deep and personal. Truly an everyday inspiration, thank you Lana to let us be able to listen to your songs. Expand

i actually think that lana reached a mental state in which she got over all the bad things that happened in her life and in which she's totally self aware of what she is, what she wants and what doesn't want. she doesn't give a **** anymore about anything. all these things could allow her to get some grammy nominations (i'm serious) and maybe a win. this album is terrific. really. pleasei actually think that lana reached a mental state in which she got over all the bad things that happened in her life and in which she's totally self aware of what she is, what she wants and what doesn't want. she doesn't give a **** anymore about anything. all these things could allow her to get some grammy nominations (i'm serious) and maybe a win. this album is terrific. really. please listen to it if you want to know lana. 11 years into her career, she still manages to reinvent herself. Poetry mixed with a hauntingly beautiful voice. Very well done Lana.

She did it again. 10/10 album no skips. I also love that the songs are long and don't follow the typically 2 and a half minute radio friendly duration

After months of listening to this album it still feels like the first time. I absolutely adore the instrumental on most of the tracks.

An album described as wordy and impromptu as she was almost just talking and yet so melodic, divinely mesmerizing welded with heavenly, nostalgic basic piano chords; her vocals whispering in ear like blowing wind but still mind-lingering. Another brilliant album by Lana del Rey. This one might be slightly different because it’s challenging the listener and if you except the challenge it truly is on the same level as Norman or Honeymoon.

Lana truly outdoes herself every album. So unique and personal. A long album that doesn’t feel long because you get so lost in the lyrics and instrumentals.

She outdid herself. The variety in this album is impressive: ballads, trap beats, folk-inspired songs and two inconspicuous interludes. There is no need to compare it to NFR! It is in its own league.

the storytelling is just impeccable, fingertips lyric wise is one of her best and so is kintsugi

Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd is a 16-track, 78-minute album, and some of it will lose even her most ardent fans. Track eight is where it regains itself through the extended metaphor of “Kintsugi”: a Japanese term for a pottery repair technique that calls attention to the crack rather than hides it. .... [After “Margaret”] There are three more tracks, though.

So while Del Rey is still the same sepia-tinted, sun-soaked American aesthete that she once was, there are real lifetime stamps all over Did you know that conjure a biographical sincerity, instigating a personal closeness.
