More of a lateral move than the progression I was hoping for, but stil, to my ears, these guys have yet to record a lousy note.

Not as well done as "Built on Squares" but it has its moments

Although this is not as good as their first two albums, there are still some high quality tracks on here.

  1. Drowaton pulses with ideas and energy, and there doesn't seem to be a musical style beyond the Mints' grasp.
  2. At least two or three songs on the record are worthy of the New Pornographers for crunchy catchiness and the entire set is packaged with energy and hooks.

Never cluttered, Drowaton is as compelling as it is complex. [Filter Mini #10, p.13]
