What a year for Mr White, releasing not just one but two excellent records. While "Fear of the Dawn" was a wall to wall rocker, "Entering Heaven Alive" is its acoustic companion. Despite its acoustic nature, it still has bite resting more on the rhythm and blues rather than the folk side of the fence. This some of White's most well thought out songwriting to date and for me, it is a treatWhat a year for Mr White, releasing not just one but two excellent records. "A Tip From You to Me", "Love is Selfish", "If I Die Tomorrow", "Taking Me Back (Gently)" are amongst the highlights. Expand

Although his dabblings in bluegrass pastiche are less convincing elsewhere, it’s all shot through with characteristic, likeable idiosyncrasy. [Oct 2022, p.36]

Unlike its predecessor, it comes across as a decidedly calming affair, one that stands apart from the earlier album’s brash and bombastic surge of racket and rumble.

The songs themselves don’t stand up to his best acoustic work. It’s not a bad album by any means, but it’s also rarely exceptional, and therefore, not very memorable.
