I cant remember when I was last so disappointed by an album. Their previous effort "Smart Flesh" was a masterpiece, with two excellent predecessors in "Charlie Darwin" and "What The Crow Brings" - "Eyeland" is horrible, only 3 or 4 songs are really listenable. 3 or 4 others are discordant and largely instrumental. The rest, just forgettable. It was a long wait for this album and I hopedI cant remember when I was last so disappointed by an album. I totally agree with thegraciousfew's comments although I don't understand the rating of 4. This is truly a very disappointing album from a group I have enjoyed for many years. I have all of their other albums and I listen to them frequently but I'll pass on this one.

It's a record best described as 13ghosts' illegitimate lovechild with Captain beefheart. [No. 133, p.57]

It’s hard to imagine the circumstance that led Low Anthem to assemble this effort. Was it psychedelic substances or a fascination for Faust? Whatever the case, Eyeland marks a trippy transformation.

    It's frustratingly patchy. [Aug 2016, p.114]
