One of the best progressive rock albums I have heard in well over a decade, probably ever. I have been listening to it non-stop since I discovered it a week ago. Psych/Prog Rock with hints of punk and even some far more jazzy arrangement. Definitely also plunges into jam band territory many times throughout the album. This album will stab you in the face repeatedly, By the time Captain Loosely plays, you will be gasping for air wondering what the hell kind of journey you just embarked on, only to be hit with a 20 minute Jam session entitled Henchlock. It really is a jarring album in how effortlessly it moves between rock styles. The experimentation is on point. The jamming is great and can easily fill the background. It has been years since I found an album I can effortlessly play from start to finish. This album truly is unrelenting. Go enjoy! Expand

This album is weird in all the right ways, plus it has a ton of energy. Like I have no idea how they made a song that opens with a squeaker squeaking into one that bangs, but they did. Wild.

Spontaneity is a live band’s great asset, and that’s hard to convey in a recording studio, but the record is endearing and absorbing even when it stumbles.

There is definitely room for some trimming. A third could easily be trimmed without damaging the listening experience too much. At the core of Face Stabber is a fun album that gets better with each listen but when it drags, and in places it does, it feels like a laborious chore to get to the good stuff again. The album lives up to its name. From the moment it starts it is an unrelenting, and visceral, album.

They sound for good or ill like they’ve beamed in from psychedelic hard rock’s boom period too. ... Face Stabber is 80 minutes long, with two songs accounting for 35 of those minutes, and betrays mild hubris as regards their ability to jam interestingly. [Sep 2019, p.60]
