A nice mix of eastern noodlings and hypnotic groove-rock moments. Reminds me of Sonic Youth blended with 23 Skidoo. Hands down, 'Smash and Grab' is the winner in this collection. Why haven't I heard of these guys sooner?

On some songs... the cutting-and-pasting fails to produce anything new, but a handful of others blend their textures beautifully. [Sep 2004, p.122]
  2. While they have incorporated new sounds into their palette, the sonic experiments don't quite work all the time and the album suffers a bit in places because of that.
  3. The band's most eminently danceable record, featuring enough grooves to work your dance party while still retaining enough good ideas to deliver a challenging experimental record that fits well with the rest of the band's catalogue and points to exciting new directions the future could take.
