    My favorites:
    "Clint Eastwood"
    "Tomorrow Comes Today"
    "Rock the House"

This is how you enter the world of music. The debut from the fictional band „Gorillaz“ is exemplary to say the very least. Memorable, varied and very creative. Who doesn’t know Gorillaz by now!?

Some of the "official" critisicm is hilarious. Loops in pro tools, come on now... Album is not perfect. But man did this album age well. Gorillaz keeps innovating and mastering the alternative genre in music. This debut album is top-notch, close to a masterpiece.

Great album. Flawed, in the way that it could've ended after about track 11. But the those first 11 tracks are fantastic. And there are still some likeable things with the tracks that come after the eleventh track.

Gorillaz has Damon Albarn churning into inexplicably experimental superpop songs out like it's going out of style. It's an album that really feels borne out of the not-so-Blur Think Tank, though it really comes off more like a series of sketches than a cohesive, meaningful album. Gorillaz's debut album Gorillaz is one of the best albums I've listened to recently. I especially loved the fact that their music is essentially genre-less. The songs are catchy and are pretty good. The album is great and I'm gonna give it a solid 8.5/10.

Amazing soundtrack! If you listen to it over and over they sound even better as you notice the background sounds or something. Truly this album is genius and if you have not yet listened to this album all the way through you should. My favorite is Sound Check (Gravity) as it has a depressing guitar and vocals. Better than pop music believe me.

This is one of my all-time favourite albums, hands down. It's so expertly crafted, with each and every track being experimental to the extreme, yet still retaining it's groove. Gorillaz is to me the best band ever and they did start by Rocking Clint Eastwood's House 19-2000 times, not their best album, that would be Demon Days, but definetly their 2nd best.

It is an impressive work, being their first album, they did something incredible, bth energetic and easy-listening is one of the best albums of Gorillaz has made, with his "dark pop" or "zombie hip hop" they did something amazing, the history of all the songs, with all their videos, all the lyrics. It ends up being an album that should not be ignored at all.

An intriguing blend of various styles, genres and moods and it contains elements ranging from deep heavy sounds to playful melodies. This album does a good job of linking up different genres.

Great for a first album. Some excellent classics here as it combines alternative rock and alternative hip hop with a gorgeous dub feel! Other than one or two "flat" tracks, it's a great album.

The Gorillaz first album is full of very trippy and funky tunes. Quite a few work, yet there's a chunk that doesn't. But still, this is one of the most original sounding albums out there and it's definitely worth picking up.

This is a terrific album because in each song you get a different genre and you can tell thay they experimented with trip hop. And they get really imaginitive with the songs espicially with "Clint Eastwood.".

The outstanding debut album of the concept band Gorillaz. This is definitely their most underground-sounding album, with mostly very alternative rock-ish tracks, but with some soaring and catchy hip-hop moments "Clint Eastwood" and "Rock The House" featuring out-of-this-world rhymes from Del Tha Funkee Homosapien( of Deltron 3030 and Hieroglyphics) and some head bopping pop favoritesThe outstanding debut album of the concept band Gorillaz. With the blend of so many musical styles, this flowing album bounces from high energy beats (punk, M1A1), to some chill songs (5/4, re-hash), to laid back melodies (starshine, slow country), to some mashup raps (clint eastwood, rock the house), sprinkling in some mixes of each genre (left-hand-suzuki method). Some songs in this album make it great to listen but some without a doubt do not belong in it. Many people will think that for a few songs this is ''crap'' but to me it's genius work from Damon Albarn and the other people who did this album. Before making any critics people have to understand the world around Gorillaz because this music is amazing.

A rocky debut from Damon Albarn's self-titled side project. Even though some of the LP feels uneven in a few places, the record contains some of the best pop songs you'll here from the past decade. Clint Eastwood is a classic.

Whereas the Beckster tends to wriggle cheekily along to his funk, and Badly Drawn Boy does his own thing in spite of it, Gorillaz don't give a rat's ass about acting funky; they just are. [July 2001, p.68]
  2. A couple of tracks flounder around South of no North but as a whole Gorillaz, should be pretty pleased with what they've been able to achieve, considering the high risk concept involved.

Taken only for what it is, Gorillaz is an engaging, if not entirely arresting, journey through sluggish mood rock and jazzy hip-hop. Taken for what it aspires to be, though, it's more disappointing than awe-inspiring...
