This album is just a compilation of Disney Channel pop-rock rejects about a now grown teen taking a love delusion too far. Sorry Olivia, but writing your own lyrics is far from enough for being a good artist, especially with such a mediocre and obviously studio edited singing voice.

Olivia Rodrigo's talent is undeniable. We need to look at it rationally and not too subjectively. Comparing with others is completely meaningless behavior, and comparing with ourselves is the true competition. No one is perfect, and no one's things will be liked by everyone. Therefore, based on rational judgment, I have seen her growth and dedication for this album. Many rock songs have really brought me back to the 2000s! Keep working hard! I support you! Both subjective and objective support you! Expand

The album is just an expansion of the sound brutal offered on her debut album, a sound that’s more of noisy, gimmicky and pretentious. Didn’t enjoy this record.

This was an absolute amazing body of work. Olivia Rodrigo is a musical genius, and with Guts, she has cemented herself as one of the dominant forces in today’s music industry. It’s fun to so hear how much she has developed, both sonically and lyrically, and the songs are so well produced as well. You have to take a listen!

Not my type of music. This just sounds so noisy and nothing special unless you like screaming... The ballads are better but just okay level. Couldn't understand the rave reviews from critics. It's a extremely overrated record.

The metacritic reviews are overrated LOL. This is just a favourable album tho. But I should say the album is mainly influenced of Avril Lavigne, Paramore and Katy Perry (One of the Boys era). And I could agree that most songs in the album are SOUR's leftover. It's just her voice and lyrics that stand out.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

I was very much looking forward to this album, but I’m sorry to say that I am disappointed. It sounds a lot like an early aughts Avril Lavigne album, or a rockified knockoff Taylor Swift. The hooks disappoint, with decent build up but no emotional payoff. Lyrically, there are a lot of lines that are repeated multiple times, serving as filler between bars.

A gorgeous return from Olivia that not only sees her style evolve but her heart more open. Holding nothing back whether its songwriting or operatics,GUTS is a revelation that what doesn’t kill you might make you stronger. Higlights: all American **** him back, ballad of a home schooled girl, vampire, bad idea, right?

Olivia Rodrigo is a industry plant and it shows. The album got teased by herself and her team as more mature and grown up when in reality it is the same theme singing about boys now it is about a different one. Really good job so original. Heavily dissapointed. And the paid reviews by these outletts that are giving a 100 Score is a joke. One of the worst albums and most boring albums IOlivia Rodrigo is a industry plant and it shows. ela veio e conseguiu fazer novamente! guts entrega absolutamente tudo. ele é coeso e diferente do sour. olivia consegue se consolidar muito bem como uma das maiores artistas da geração, sua escrita é impecável e as técnicas vocais são maravilhosas. fácil de se relacionar, ela canta sobre suas dores de uma jovem adulta e consegue conquistar o mundo outra vez.

this album is bringing female pop punk BACK! love her and her lyricism. this album encapsulates growing up and making mistakes and i feel so seen by all of the songs on it.

Definitely meant for 19 year olds. All of the songs sound like they would fit on Sour.

Very solid album, had a lot of Pop Punk sounds, which isn’t bad but I’d thought we’d have more “Driver’s License” ballads on this album.

Overall good album, and a perfect follow up to her debut SOUR

A teen angst album with a manufactured storyline we’ve hear before over and over again with music that sounds like it belongs to Avril Lavigne in the early 2000’s.

“Teenage Dream” recycles a song title of Katy Perry’s and echoes a twisty-turny melody of Lana Del Rey’s. Yet Rodrigo’s emotional presence is so strong throughout “Guts” — so believable even at its most unrelatable — that you never lose the sense of a specific young person navigating a trial of her own making.

GUTS is emphatic proof that Rodrigo isn't just good for a kid -- she's grown into an artist with plenty of things to say, and the confidence and eloquence to say them her way.

These songs show that Rodrigo isn’t done after GUTS.
