Jan 8, 2012"Wheel" is one of the best songs ever. This is John Mayer Best album out of the 4(I love all of them). John Mayer has alot of detractors just because he has so many fans but he is a great artist. Blending soft rock with blues, he is amazing. If you like John Mayer try " Justin Nozuka" !!!!!

izataOct 30, 2006an okay album.. i've been trying to soak up the melodies n feel the lyrics but i can't... sometimes this albumis boring but sometimes its great, too... CLARITY is the best..

LuisGSep 10, 2006... not so much heavy but ever so resonating... aside from the last two tracks heavier things is an incredible album.. clarity is my fav track there..

DavidAMay 29, 2006RIcky needs to calm down a bit hahah. So what if John Mayer did a Hendrix cover? I think it was pretty good. The guy's got credible guitar skill. You sound like you would start worshipping Hendrix's testicles if you got a hold of them. Relax dude.

rubenfApr 20, 2005not the best album, but it is very good. john mayer is very creative but he does'nt show it. some great up beat songs make up for lowsy beats and borings lyrics. i think next time around he'll make it a classic.

BeeboSNov 23, 2004While Mayer is a very capable musician, the hushed, back-of-the-throat affectation of his vocals grates after awhile, as does his overarching pretentiousness. This isn't the worst album ever, but I also think that in 20 years Mayer will only be remembered on "Soft Rock of the 00's" compilations sold on late night tv.

AnnaA.Dec 25, 2003OK so I am madley in love with John Mayer, but Heavier Things could have been a little faster. He gives awesome concerts but he will screw those awesome concerts with SLOW songs. Otherwise Heavier Things is the best, and a side note....MARRY ME JOHN MAYER!!!!!!!

DannyWOct 20, 2003At the beginning, I thought the album was gonna disappoint me as my friend told me that teh album had been messed up by the effects. It turned out that Mayer's contagious interpretation of music could still stand out and make it work.

EricOct 7, 2003"Inside Wants Out" . . Great, "Room for Squares" . . . Fantastic, "Any Given Thursday" . . . A sign of GREAT things to come. "Heavier Things" . . . What the f*** happened. Don't get me wrong I think Mayer is an amazing guitarist when he lets the blues flow, but heavier things is simply a jumble of effects, and weak riffs.

-
MarkGSep 30, 2003An interesting album, as Mayer experiments with jazzier textures and rhythms, but it lacks the pure brilliance of the first CD. This album tries too hard to NOT be pop, which, ultimately, is its downfall.

-
SaraSSep 28, 2003John Mayer's new album shows his unique sound and style which is somthing people could use today. His lyrics are so honest and there isn't one person who couldn't on some level relate to at least one of these songs.
-
-
J.D.IvesSep 27, 2003John Mayer is a pure example of a musician. He writes his own songs, plays on his own tracks, and seems to NEVER take a break.. This album is a must for all fans of John Mayer. He bridges the gap that Room for Squares left by placing "Heavier" guitar riffs and more emotionally charged lyrics. The man in a genious.

christieSep 25, 2003John Mayer is amazing! His voice is like butter the way it is so smooth.. Heavier Things doesn't have just one song that pops out, but all of them do.... i've had the cd for almost a month now, and i still don't have a favorite! i can't narrow it down enough! YAY JOHN MAYER!!

MojoAs Mayaer talks himself in circles you hear an artist facing massive success, and retreating from it. [Dec 2003, p.112]
