One of the creepiest soundtracks I ever heard. Colin Stetson made a fantastic job!

While visually hereditary is fatally flawed by its failure to frighten, sonically it is as scary as hell. [Sep 2018, p.61]

The soundtrack is a continual blurring of boundaries. It is semi-static throughout, like much of Faure’s Requiem, severely troubled even beneath seemingly placid surfaces. This renders those points of eruption and cataclysm exponentially more powerful.

Where Stetson’s solo albums use dread and paranoia to undercut his careful attention to post-rock’s sense of limitless possibility, Hereditary feeds off of his darkest impulses.
