A seminal band of the ‘90s, suddenly back after 22 years with a stunning new record. Ominous bass line grooves, dense guitars and lush, layered arrangements. Imagine 3 parts Soundgarden and 1 part Smiths.

All three of their LPs got better as I listened to them more and more. This album took several listens more than the former two did to appreciate it more, but it is still amazing music.

Neither a work of nostalgia nor a move away from the blueprint that made them so special in the first place, this album demonstrates that artistic quality cannot be confined to a specific place in time.

What a pity, then, to find the band more or less dozing off after their spectacular opening tantrum, drifting aimlessly in a space-rock black hole for the bulk of Interiors.

All set to buzzy guitars and a bass-kit dynamic that adds so much oomph and clout to a band that, well, doesn't really have to do much to get you going. Dive in and see if you emerge alive.
