This is a solid album it’s just not her most coherent album. It’s cute at times and it’s just scattered.

This album is amazing! Not her best work, but a solid sophomore pop album. Although you can feel that her label has forced her to do more pop instead of alternative R&B, this album has some great songs. Especially Ooh La La, Joyride and No Contest are bops

Tinashe deserves better. With Joyride's constant postponed dates, it's hard to imagine what she felt when RCA wanted her to release music for the public. She is an artist and as such, she should express what she wants to through songs. Joyride may be a product of long delays but it never disappoints.
Stuck With Me

This one is really just above average that you can take good songs out of it, but not good enough that you forget other songs that are in it. The album is eventually bogged down by unnecessary interludes so close together. Favorite songs are Joyride, No Drama and Faded Love

Joyride is Tinashé's most cohesive, mature and focused album in my opinion and I love it. It's very atmospheric and moody; a great one to smoke to! Great album, the only songs I disliked were Me So Bad which shouldn't have been a single and Ooh La La because of that squeaking noise that starts to become annoying really quick.

After her label postponing this album for over three years, Joyride is finally here. Tinashe's second studio album offers a mix of various RnB, Pop and Urban songs. Tinashe's second studio album offers a mix of various RnB, Pop and Urban songs. It's a strange combination of songs with completely different styles with a few unnecessary interludes in an attempt to make this album not feel incoherent. The beginning of the album sounds moody and dark, with an interlude called 'Keep Your Eyes On The Road' as opener. 'Joyride' follows after this first interlude, the song that was almost featured as single on superstar Rihanna's album 'ANTI', after which leadsingle 'No Drama' starts.

'No Drama' is a good example of where things go wrong with this album: there is no unique identity to it. The lead single could literally have been sung by any other artist and you would not even notice a difference. All the released singles have the exact same problem. 'Faded Love' and 'Me So Bad' are both decent popsongs, but they sound generic and boring and will never be able to chart -- and there's no 'Tinashe' to them.

In this vague mixture called 'Joyride', excellent songs such as 'Ooh La La' and 'He Don't Want It' are buried under a mountain of predictability and missing identity. Other single choices could have made a big difference, especially since summer season is coming, and a clearer style vision would have helped to make Joyride feel like a whole. Tinashe's perseverance is admirable and must be appreciated, but the final product still feels unfinished - even after so many years of work.

I really love her sound on this and the individual songs go the **** off. My favorites in particular are Joyride (her voice is so unlike anything we've heard before and it just works so well), Faded Love, No Drama and Fire & Flames. The reason this isn't a 10 is because as a whole it doesn't sound as cohesive as Aquarius and Nightride did, and it feels a little like a compromise album between RCA and Tinashe. The pop songs and the edgier, darker songs are scattered throughout and don't follow a particular theme. That said, the songs individually are very strong and polished and is definitely up to par with what I'm used to hearing from Tinashe. Just wish this album was filled out with 2 or 3 more songs! Then, Joyride is finally out! The album is delicious, cohesive, I liked everything about it! Tinashe owns R & B / Trap. I found the album, as a whole, more commercial than the previous ones - which had very experimental moments - but with Joyride, girl still delivers all of her potential.

Sadly, forced lyrics and too-on-the-nose productions (bedsprings in "Ooh La La") are a killjoy.

Joyride feels like an album that has had anything adventurous about it focussed-grouped away and its hints at conceptual ambition are quickly abandoned after the opening two tracks for run-of-the-mill R&B. Tinashe is a good singer and a great performer, with the looks and work-ethic to be a star, but she sounds bored on this album.

The artistry of her voice lies in those moments of versatility and charisma, but they’re too isolated across Joyride to land with the kind of impact they deserve.
