Was probably one of the greatest album of its time, but all songs are not that perfect. Battle of Evermore, Four Sticks and Misty Mountain are kinda average. Still a rock classic, but i don't think it still desearves the perfecr score.

It might have been great for it's time and inspired other albums, I don't thinknit holds up too well. Stairway To Heaven and When The Levee Breaksnare the only great songs. Rest of them range from okay to bellow average.

This album isn't particularly well-shaped, but it is excellently executed, consistently great and its standouts are so good, they stand out in the general music context.

It's the Sgt. Peppers of Hard Rock. As simple as that. You can't get rid of it, never. Loud guitar, magic voice, masterful bass and organ, unique drums, nothing fails, everything is just plain perfect. Devil bless Led Zeppelin.

Absolutely one of the best albums of all time, not only rock's, but music's. Zeppelin's songs start being even more versatile here, because here can be found pure rock and roll, celtic & acoustic songs full-of-beauty, epic songs with many parts, hard rock, groovy rock and blues. Lyrics start being more mysterious and interesting. Another match by this marvelous and magic quartet. About the extra material, it's regrettable again, maybe one of the worst. Nothing new again, and as if this wasn't enough, is the literally exactly same album, perhaps same sessions that ones that were released on album, but with very very little differences in mixing, like guitars lower and some new overdubs (what means anything). Again, absolutely worthwhile for the album, whether it is so amazing than better listen it twice, but the bonus material can even been called this way.
[Album 11/10, Extra material (for being the album again) 11/10, (but for neglect with fans which are wasting their money with more-of-the-same) 4/10]

One of the greatest albums ever containing some of their best songs. In my opinion only second to Physical Graffiti from their discography. Robert Plant's voice, Bonzo's drums, JPJ bass and Jimmy's guitar never sounded better!!!

What is there to say about one of the greatest albums of all time? This album is from a time where sales actually mean good music, and not just slapping some **** beat on your cringe rap lyrics. There's still good mainstream stuff, not as much anymore. Not as much. Anyway, it's pretty damn good. It's got some of the greatest songs of all time, and the rest aren't bad either.

When Led Zeppelin set off to record their fourth album, their main goal was to prove that they were more that just popular. They wanted to reaffirm their talent and strike down any critics who believed that any of their fame was based on raw hype. And after nearly 50 years, it's safe to say that the pioneers of modern Hard Rock and Metal succeeded. With the iconic voice of Robert Plant and the impeccable abilities of drummer John Bonham (a man I believe to be the greatest rock drummer of all time), Led Zeppelin released this 8-track album in 1971 and to universal appeal. The album starts out hard and fast. In the first two tracks, every band member is doing their part at full capacity. But as the Battle of Evermore starts, the music slows down and then occurs a transition from hard and gritty to something more traditional and even folkloric. It was this that inspired the oddball album cover, apparently designed by the band to create a dichotomy between the portrait of the English countryman and the ripped white wallpaper of a London flat. It fits the music perfectly because after the beautiful Stairway to Heaven concludes, then starts Misty Mountain Hop, a ballad that, to me, seems like a song based on daily life, something done by other British rock bands in "Day in the Life" and "Parklife." And then finally, the album ends with "When the Levee Breaks." Other than "The National Anthem" by Radiohead, I can't think of a better, more intense and progressively-building rock song than this one. I know it wasn't originally created by them, but their version stands alone. You can feel a sort of tension about a levee somewhere faltering while the band delivers one of the most emotionally- involved performances I've ever heard. It ends and you stare at the album cover again thinking about the antique shop clerk that sold Led Zeppelin that painting and about what that clerk is doing nowadays. That would be a good Vice video profile. Expand

When The Levee Breaks - the most awesome and profoundly arousing piece of blues rock ever recorded. I would forgive this album anything, on the basis of that one track. But fortunately, the rest is also great.

One would think it nigh on impossible to improve on the songs on offer here but he has managed it with aplomb. The songs continue to shine all theses years later.

To the trolls who say don't buy this - you are obviously not fans nor have even listened to
