Tedeschi Trucks Band is a band I would absolutely love to see live. They exude stellar musicianship, from the guitars to the horns to the vocals. In terms of songwriting, however, the tracks on Let Me Get By are gripping for only as long as Tedeschi's soulful style of rock entertains you. It doesn't keep me interested for its 56 minute duration. Tedeschi Trucks Band has a lot ofTedeschi Trucks Band is a band I would absolutely love to see live. This is a huge improvement from the hit-and-miss Made Up Mind, which at times felt overwrought and stiff. They've made an album here that sounds like I'd always hoped they would - the jams are hot, Tedeschi sounds great, and there are some surprising new tricks sprinkled throughout. It's a shame all the tastemaker websites auto-ignore stuff like this because they hate jam bands.

Tedeschi has chops, charm, and a workmanlike style that could at times use some pizzazz.

Never has TTB sounded so organic, relaxed, and free. Let Me Get By is the album this group has been striving for since their formation. You need this.

Their music rarely sounds like the blues: "Let Me Get By" is a fiery funk waltz, "In Every Heart" a 6/8 Stax-styled ballad with woozy horns, while the blue-eyed soul of "Crying Over You" segues into a flute-led raga. [Mar 2016, p.81]
