Not as obviously melodic or containing as many hooks as some of their previous work, but still a fairly solid album. I enjoyed the "Pink Floyd" direction they were going in the "Distance Inbetween", but this could be a "grower" (ha! a lot of quotation marks in that sentence.).

Compared to their earlier work, 'Move Through the Dawn' as a whole feels more mellow, and a bit softer. Some might see it as the band losing their edge, personally I feel it's just them exploring a slightly different direction, and I think the end result is one of the best albums they've ever produced. Strongly recommended!

The Coral may have been at this game for nigh-on two decades but there’s scarcely a moment here that seems tired or phoned-in. Instead, the Wirral lads have added another fascinating work to their canon.

Move Through the Dawn sounds like the Coral are confident and pushes forward from Distance Inbetween. The album is a strong statement for a band that emerged amidst the guitar rock of the early 2000s and stubbornly built success and a career on retro interests and stylistic cues. That makes Move Through the Dawn enjoyable, even while its inconsistencies mark a stark difference from its predecessor or other Coral albums, like the overlooked Roots & Echoes (2007) or the lost The Curse of Love (2014).

It took several listens for the potions on Move Through The Dawn to take effect. ... Sometimes, slow burners provide the best flames.
