Very good cover album. One would not imagine the same band made famous by the song La Bamba would still be relevant today and releasing good music. Albeit it´s a cover album, they are good covers and not just renditions. Los Lobos being an LA based band, covering many LA artists keeps the same Cali feeling to it and never ceises to impress.

Apart from splicing “Bluebird” and “For What It’s Worth” into a Buffalo Springfield medley, Los Lobos stay faithful to these original arrangements, which doesn’t mean they’re replicating records. They’re relying on their collective strengths as a rock’n’roll band.

Native Sons is a surprisingly great piece of work by a band who know how to please their fans and accidentally make new ones.

Native Sons is a tribute that manages to be more than a set of covers -- it shows what the band learned from these songs, as well as showing us where their long musical journey has taken them. It's essential listening from one of America's greatest bands.
