This is indie rock at it's finest from a band incapable of making a bad record.
Amazingly, this is a band who time after time beats anything made by the likes of The Shins in terms of melody, musicianship, and production BUT somehow, somewhere, the powers that be decided that one band had to be a media darling no matter what. It's like BETA vs vhs, the media championed the lesser option

It's like BETA vs vhs, the media championed the lesser option and the masses swallowed it whole.

The new RW continues with those subtle hooks and that grow into grandeur with each listen. Deceptively Lo-Fi, behind every song is a grand arrangement from a band that doesn't know the meaning a "filler" and know that every note counts.

A few more like ‘College’ and ‘Figured It Out’, with their emotional weight and memorable choruses, and they’d be onto something.

The impotence of railing against it is a theme running through a lot of the record, and in the case of Nightingale Floors, coming to terms with the past has freed Rogue Wave to turn in what might be their finest work.

This isn't groundbreaking material--but it does showcase a band that has stuck to its guns, honed its craft, and created something pleasing to show for it.
