It shows Alison Moyet as a vocalist of immense sensitivity, feeling and lasting power. She is right at the top of her game musically and lyrically, delivering pop music that is more relevant now than at any point in her illustrious career.

[Moyet] sounds notably energised throughout this second electronic pop outing. [Aug 2017, p.94]

Taken all together, it's a formidable, empowering set, one that's taking charge of the present and not interested in rehashing the past.

She's gone big and bold. [Aug 2017, p.107]

The 80s traditionalists will delight in the euphoric synth-pop of Happy Giddy, but this is a far more ambitious delight than that. Her voice might have got her noticed, but her songwriting’s proving the most extraordinary thing about her these days.

Her sophisto-pop range expands with each album, although the winning warmth of her live performances is largely absent here. [Jul 2017, p.35]

Whether juxtaposed with string sections, dark electronics or thumping beats, Moyet's deeply sonorous voice is still the dramatic center. [No. 143, p.59]

I do not see the fuss about that album. Undertones of Chamber Pop, Electropop, and even Downtempo/Trip-Hop. It is a pleasant listening but ifI do not see the fuss about that album. Undertones of Chamber Pop, Electropop, and even Downtempo/Trip-Hop. It is a pleasant listening but if you are not very fond of her voice it is kinda cloying. I do not want to hear it again although as I said it is not a bad album. Expand
