    This is a gentle and truly magical album that captured me from the first track and didn’t let go until the last one. My favorites are POV, off the table, my hair, safety net. From now on, this is one of the most beloved albums in Ariana’s career on a level with Dangerous Woman 10/10 Awesome

    Ariana Grande’s sixth studio album is the definition of ethereal. It has a soft, pure, and genuine energy. Grande’s ability to turn her emotions into music is so incredibly powerful, she is truly the definition of a singer. Positions is a beautiful and heavenly album, no doubt.

    After reading the negative reviews being left by fans of other women in this industry, i’ve decided to make my own review on this project. There is an ongoing theme where fans do the absolute most in attempt to sabotage other artists, Ariana falling victim to this recently. There is an ongoing theme where fans do the absolute most in attempt to sabotage other artists, Ariana falling victim to this recently. From having her project almost fully leaked before the final release day to fans of other artists mass-buying the competing song in order to see Ariana not succeed, and now for these same people to leave bad reviews on the album there is some sort of obsession there. Many of the reviews i’ve seen criticise this album for being ‘too sexual’ yet in the past Ariana has also been criticised for acting and looking like a child. What is so shocking to me is that we are living in a time where it is still taboo for a woman to to be open about and one with her sexuality. The strings, the vocals, the lyrics, the harmonies, the layering of her vocals, everything on this project was just wonderful and i truly cannot stress enough how divine it was hearing this album for the first time. Contrary to most of the poor reviews, i don’t believe this is a compilation of thank u, next rejects at all. Ariana brought a variety of different flavours to this body of work and it’s something i personally have been waiting for from her. I truly love this album and i feel that as Ariana grows older she is continuing to solidify her sound and its great to see. Each project becomes more and more personal and it seems that she is also opening up her shell a little more through each album.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. i’m actually so proud of ariana for finally stepping out of her “pop princess” comfort zone and created more r&b, blues, and whistle note tracks. that’s her area of music. that’s where her vocals serve and that’s where she belongs as an artist. her voice is capable of so much more than a basic pop track and this album proves that. it brings you on an emotional roller coaster but in the BEST way possible. from some of the sadder/more soulful songs like off the table, safety net, pov, she expresses gratitude for her past and how she’s healing from it. in pov, she wants to love herself the way the new person in her life sees her/loves her and also she wants to learn to love another person the same way by not leaving like in the past, “ima love you even though i’m scared” “still getting good at not leaving.” in off the table, she’s scared to love again and the weeknd’s verse is him explaining to her that even though she’s been hurt before and he’s been toxic in the past, he can still love her regardless and he’s willing to try. the more upbeat songs just like magic (sooo catchy and such a vibe for manifesting good things in your life … Expand

    This album is currently my favorite out of all her other albums. Ariana is definitely maturing and changing her styles From R&B, Blues, Trap, and Pop, this album has a beautiful range with her vocals and styles of music. So love that Ariana is trying new things. LOVE THIS ALBUM.

For the fans who want to be emotionally invested, she delivers Off The Table, Safety Net, and POV.     Grande is making no effort to be discreet, instead explicitly owning her sexuality—the album is called Positions, after all. The juxtaposition of beautiful violin sounds and risqué lyrics has become one of Grande’s signature sounds, and it suits her well.

    Grande laid bare may well be seen as a stopgap in her canon, using taboo to checkmate her past trauma, but it does pull off the rare feat of at least sounding effortless.

    With little conflict and few psychological insights, Positions zeroes in on the enviable confidence that only pop stars on top of the world and with nothing to lose can afford. It's easy to write it off as empty calories, but pop has always been described in such terms: cake, candy, chocolate, confection. Positions isn't a "sweetener" but pure sugar.
