Jun 21, 2022I love this album so much. Panic! At The Disco is super talented! Brendon Urie is so good!
-
May 31, 2022An underrated album that definitely takes a step away from their debut. It may not be perfect, but it is a solid album that is at least worth listening to.

Apr 15, 2022Gorgeous. A truly valiant effort by Ryan Ross and co. Really shows off the beauty of what music can be. Is it the best album of all time? Nah, but it still deserves a 10. Highlights include: Northern Downpour, That Green Gentleman, Nine in the Afternoon, and When the Day Met the Night.
-
Mar 22, 2022The album is good and the sounds the band creates are well executed. Probably their best work.

Jan 6, 2020I feel like this album is so great, I can’t even explain it. A complete masterpiece

Oct 21, 2017Great album, I love most of the songs on here. There are some songs I don't love as much and I don't think this is my favorite style of theirs, I was still thoroughly impressed. Northern Downpour is probably my favorite song off of the album and is an incredibly underrated song of theirs. A-

Sep 9, 2017The last record that really can be said it had the last drops of the essence of the band and is not because they break-up later but because Brandon Urie completely destroyed everything that had been achieved with his two mediocre pop albums and the simplistic Vices & Virtues .

Oct 29, 2015This album, inspired by 1960's rock such as The Beatles and The Kinks, doesn't disappoint with songs that have that '60s feel to them such as "Nine In The Afternoon".
-
Sep 17, 2015This album is waaaaaay better than their previous record. Wow they have come a long way from crappy pretentious emo pop. Even though this record is watered down it feels honest.
-
Jun 14, 2014With "Pretty. Odd.", the band is trying to tell us that they matured. And that seems about right. The Beatles and The Beach Boys are some of the obvious major influences around here. "Nine In the Afternoon" is a great hit song that could only have been done by them.

Mar 5, 2014I loved how random it all felt at first yet listening to it clarified the lyrics a little bit every time. Even now, 6 years and 200 listens later, it's still so catchy and in my opinion Panic's best album to date.

Apr 20, 2012This was Panic at the Disco at their best. Pretty. Odd. is a great example of a band maturing their sound for their sophomore album. If only it hadn't been so short lived...

SophieAug 10, 2008This is nothing like their old stuff i found that i could sing along to every word of every song on the last album, but apart from a few very catchy songs theres nothing outstanding. However, I still love P!ATD so therefore i love the album.

D.G.Apr 28, 2008Not a bad album by any stretch - much better than the first one, and much more original. If people criticized every band for sounding like or paying tribute to the Beatles, then almost every band since the 60s would be guilty of this. I think Panic has released a great album here, and though the sound does pay tribute to the Beatles, it's definitely a step of maturity for the band.

DevonSApr 27, 2008Okay, you "emo" kids that can't deal with the fact that Panic has changed need to grow up. They sound much more mature in this album, and the best part is, they're songs don't sound completely computer-generated! I can't stop listening to it! I highly recommend it.

JanmikS.Apr 24, 2008I think the shift was very daring and awesome.. It sounds nothing like rushed up, unplanned music.

AdamN.Apr 15, 2008Totally has ELO written all over it and pieces of hooks borrowed from the Beatles. A huge mix of instrumentation and vocal arrangements demand some attention here; but the pay off is ample. I gave it 4 solid listens and now I'm hooked. One thing though- maybe it's just me but: The vocals are impeccable in an almost annoying way. It's like the singer is fake at times.

RudeDogApr 8, 2008Decent sophomore effort. Been the main CD I've been listening to for the last week that I've had it. Different (but good) sound from the 1st album. I agree with reviews it sounds like they spent months discovering the Beatles. Although, as much as I like it, I feel the wheels drop off at track 11. Though 10 good, catchy tunes out of 15 isn't shabby. Worth the price? Yes.

BronwynnApr 7, 2008I loved this album, it's so diffrent from a fever you can't sweat out, but i still loved it...there are so many songs on this album that make you wanna get up and dance (which is what music should do).

SammyApr 6, 2008I'm taken aback by how much I like this album. Panic had a strong debut, but it never once felt original. This album truly establishes an original identity for the band. The tunes are wonderfully musical, and I can't stop listening to it.

Awards & Rankings
-
More often than not (and this is the kicker, ladies and gentlemen), Pretty. Odd. is just pretty dull.
-
Even when it's over the top, which is basically always, Pretty. Odd. sounds cheerful, with a broad sense of humor that does honor to the noble legacy of ELO mastermind Jeff Lynne.
-
Pretty.Odd lives up to its title because it dares to be optimistically beautiful at a time when sadness and ugliness might have won them easier credibility. [Apr 2008, p.92]
