His strongest showing to date. This is a good album. It has depth, lyrics and a good production to go with.

Jay Rock’s Redemption is a masterpiece. Jay Rock has made big improvements to his bars, his flow, and his story telling ability. I absolutely loved all of the songs on the album. And the production on the album is on fire. Jay Rock has created one of the best albums of his career, and it’s worth a listen. I highly recommend it!

Jay Rock delivers a very good album on Redemption after a near death experience. He references his accident and other struggles throughout the album, making it feel very authentic. Jay Rock has many good tracks on the album, with pretty good production and good lyrics with that TDE west coast feel. With all that said, it the album leaves you wanting a bit more, and I believe Jay Rock couldJay Rock delivers a very good album on Redemption after a near death experience. This album has a raw energy to it that is present for most of its runtime. I really like 90059, and while I can't say that I necessarily like this album more, I do appreciate it in the different qualities that it possesses. It's nice to finally see Jay Rock once again releasing albums and doing what he does best. Favorite songs include WIN, For What it's Worth, Redemption, and the Bloodiest.

The entirety of Redemption sounds as morose as his parched rhymes, with an effective backdrop of bleak bass drones and minimal synth lines, but not as much when he attempts to slow down his delivery. Stick for his soul-bearing lessons, even if he treads on familiar and worn-down musical paths.

It's a heartening LP, both because of the top-notch, life-affirming beats throughout, along with the renewed vigour in the voice of a man who clearly takes nothing for granted now that he's on the mend.

He’s also got a distinctive, no nonsense style: lyrically direct without sacrificing a certain poeticism, willing to look directly at a topic and offer steely-eyed comment.
