Lo mejor: Dont blame me, I did something bad, Delicate, Get away car.

While it may not be as good as Fearless, or 1989, I'd still say it was a good album with a few bad songs, but overall a solid album nonetheless.

Best: End Game, Getaway Car, King Of My Heart, Call It What You Want

    Worse: Gorgeous, New Year's Day

Pop Music 2017 is horror, almost all of the songs are about love or are about Kanye

This album shows Taylor's dark side, which is appealing to older age groups as well (21-30). I was really excited for this album when she released the first 2 singles. I was hoping for an electronic inspired album, but we got this instead. Although, it gets better the more you listen to it. For example, 'End Game', 'Delicate', 'So It Goes...' and 'King Of My Heart' are fantastic! It's a bit dodgy in a few areas but generally not bad at all.

I genuinely don’t understand how critics keep praising everything Taylor Swift does. At best Reputation is a run-of-the-mill pop album. I wouldn’t necessarily have a problem with her going super mainstream though if the songs were actually good, but she seems to have this really strange ability to take almost good songs and ruin them with the most annoying hooks and lyrics. Examples include I Did Something Bad and Dancing With Our Hands Tied. And then there are some songs that are just completely cringeworthy and awful like This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things and Dress that make me question everything about Swift’s judgement. Anyway, this is a really disappointing and barely enjoyable album and I wish more critics would feel that way too. Expand

She should've stuck to country music. While the album isn't bad per se, quality took a hit from her previous work. 1989 was a brilliant pop record and "reputation" comes across as a childish album. From a girl who's experiencing her 20s, we shouldn't be hearing songs like Ready for It.

Reputation is really a change in Taylor's music style. While she does leave the "bubblegum" pop field, she tries to expand her sound in more urban, RnB and Trap sounds. The thing is that half the album feels dull. Even though there are some great moments (call them "I Did Something Bad" and "...Ready For It"), a great number of the rest tracks falls flat. The collaboration with Ed and Future is unnecessary. The comeback single "Look What You Made Me Do" is just bad and the Europeen second single "Gorgeous" is clumsy as hell. This wasn't as bad as I was expecting. It's an album that is about how the media views her and, at least to her, villifies her. Now while I will give Taylor this and find a lot of the gossip and criticism to be overblown, I do not really care about her life nor her epically messing up her image when Kim Kardasian shared that one video of Tay approving of Kanye's Famous line about her. Listening to this album without any context, it just raises question as to who is the machine and why is she raging against it. And even with context of the media and how it painted her, it doesn't really make a lot of sense, considering she's the one that lost the good girl narrative and her attempts at being the bad guy is just laughable. Look at What You Made Me Do is a prime example of this where I don't buy that she's taking the role of the villain, and her deflecting blame just does not work. It's much the same with other songs like I Did Something Bad and This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things, but the big issue with this album is that this theme of media representation is unbalanced, as 40% of it is about the media and 60% of it is romance songs about some guy and how she's head over heels for him and it's just so uninteresting. And it's even worse when you add context to these love songs because knowing her history of dating men and writing breakup songs afterwords, I don't buy songs like King of My Heart, Gorgeous, and So It Goes... that are about "true love." I'll buy it when I see it, but right now I just don't! Then there is the production, which isn't bad honestly. Much like 1989, reputation is another pop album from Tay that has her going in more electronic sounds, but unlike the 80s synthpop on her last album, this album moves towards electropop. And it's...a mixed bag. With songs like Look What You Made Me Do, Ready for It?, and End Game (which has Ed Sheeran and Future of all people dropping lines here), Tay has anthemic electropop tunes, I'll give her that, but she feels super out of place behind these trap and aggressive sounds, or they sound extremely dated when they turn into leftover dubstep wubs and drops that Skrillex wouldn't even use (the worse offender of that being I Did Something Bad). And speaking of trap, there are gentle songs that are more atmospheric and minimal, somehting Lorde would use during the Pure Heroine-era of her career, but with those harsh trap elements thrown on, it ruins songs like Call It What You Want and Gorgeous. There are a few songs I do kind of like. Delicate is a relaxing tropical house type song that's very bubbly (although it reminds me of a leftover beat from Troye Sivan's Blue Neighbourhood album), Getaway Car would fit very well on 1989, both in terms of the sound and lyrical theme, but that's a compliment, Dancing With Our Hands Tied is a solid EDM and dance-pop tune with an energetic kick-drum rhythm, and New Year's Day is a solid piano ballad and a solid closer at that. But honestly this doesn't win me over as a Swiftie. At least with 1989 it had her going in a mature direction and sees her growing up (and I don't mean mature like the song Dress I did NOT want a sex song from Tay), but with reputation I just see this as a regression than progression. If I at least bought what she was singing about or have me understand where she is coming from, I would be more forgiving than I already am. Expand

She knows how te create a story for everything that happened to her. She takes the narrative and makes it her own. Proving she will continue doing what she loves and that´s music for the fans. Even if the haters attack her she will keep proving that the more stories they invent of her the more content and ideas for new music will flourish. Arguably the best album of the year and far better than 1989. In fact, I would say the worst songs of the album are the ones who have been already out as a single: Look What You Made Me Do (we all agree this one is horrendous), Gorgeous and Ready For It. 1.2 million albums sold in a week. Madness.

This record further solidifies and exemplifies Swift's abilities as a writer. By refusing to accept the cards the media has dealt her, Swift shows her strenght and how to turn a narrative successfully.

Esperava mais e acho que esse foi meu grande erro. Se formos analisar, o maior problema desse CD são as canções produzidas por Max Martin e Shellback. Os dois fazem ótimas músicas, mas no caso desse CD ficou um eletrônico enjoativo. Na minha opinião, as melhores são Delicate, Getaway Car, ...Ready for It? (pelo refrão) e Dancing With our Hands Tied. No geral é um bom CD pop.

A sonoridade das músicas da mulher continua a mesma. Sempre mediana, não faz algo inovador. Poucas são as faixas que se salvam. "Ready For It?" é uma delas.

While 1989 was a delicious piece of 80s-inspired pop, on Reputation, we have our first full taste of a rap-feature courtesy of Future on End Game (not a bad song and it works better than the special remix of Bad Blood which featured a forced collab with Kendrick Lamar and sounded like an afterthought) and more electro-pop. Nothing here goes terribly wrong but quickly gets stale by the third or fourth listen.

But this is what will score her the stupendous sales and isn't it what's it all about for TS and gang now?

Gourgeous, This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things, i Did Something Bad e outras músicas nos mostram com suas letras que a maior inspiração dela é o passado. The lyrics went unprecedentedly awful. I can hardly believe they came from Taylor Swift, who used to be such a lyrics genius. Frankly speaking, "State Of Grace" or "Clean" is better than any song in Reputation. "Gorgeous" sounds like written by a 5 years old and sentences like "My baby's fly like a jet stream/High above the whole scene" and "I'm so chill, but you make me jealous" are very ludicrous. The album is full of boring and unimaginative sex scenes. I can feel how hard Swift tried to sound sexy and mature. Unfortunately, she sounds more like a teenager who never had sex and thinks posting sex scenes on her Snapchat makes her cool, or an annoying woman who chatters without stop about her sex life in a club after a couple of drinks.
Swift tried to make Reputation a dark album but her darkness is superficial. The theme of this album is shallow and uninspiring. Actually, there are only 2 things she keeps talking about, how other celebrities and the medias bullyed her and how perfect her current relationship is. Without delicate portrait or appealing love stories, the "angel boyfriend" figure in Reputation is plain and fake. The reflection on love and life in RED, the confidence, independence and self-awareness 1989 conveyed, all vanished in Reputation. Swift used the whole album to complain about being a celebrity. She is playing the victim all the time and trying to feed her fandom a utopian love story.
Maybe she is too absorbed in her role playing. Maybe she paid too much attention to playing up to her fans. Maybe she ran out of her talents. Selling more than 1 million in a week won't change the fact that Reputation is a terrible album. People are buying it because she is Taylor Swift. She was the old Taylor. Watching critics and swifties praising "reputation" is like watching the real life "The Emperor's New Clothes". Everyone gets drunk by Taylor Swift's cheap spirits and tells each other it is nectar. Some of them are paid to drink, while others pay the drinks. And Taylor Swift individually instagramming each of the good reviews could be one of the biggest jokes in 2017. Who is she deceiving? The medias, the fans or herself? I'm afraid what will destroy her reputation is her weak music, instead of the medias, or any of her so-called enemies.
Organized social media dramas won't make her a Bob Dylan or Beyonce. When it comes to music, people won't take the dramas more seriously than they take the Kardashians' butts. After reputation, I only have 2 questions. Where is the old Taylor and when will she come back?

It makes it seem like having a bad reputation is actually a good thing. I just don't align with her message anymore as someone who has never drank or partied (there are lots of other ways to have fun). I love her singing voice! But alas you don't really hear it at all in these songs, but my rating is a one instead of a zero because there are parts in every song where I'm reminded of how wonderful her voice is, and some lines are very catchy. Yet, as is the case more often than not, Taylor Swift comes through and pushes the new hottest singles of the year and makes a believer out of everyone, again. Reputation was a hard act to put in the spotlight after the superb "1989" proved Taylor was more than capable of being a pop heavyweight with more than just a hit or two. Here on Reputation, Taylor pulls some of the feel of "1989" and mixes it with some grittier electro-pop production which end up being some of the most interesting cuts available ("Don't Blame Me", "Look What You Made Me Do", "Ready For It"). Other potential hits include "Gorgeous" and "End Game", both featuring some of Taylor's established style and the later bringing in guest rap vocals to shake things up. As Reputation progresses, the gloss and grit slowly smooth out and it's more of "1989" which should be a welcomed fact for big fans that wanted more of the hit parade that was Taylor's last album. Reputation simply confirms that Taylor can hold her own atop the pop hill - dethroning her will take some serious muscle and those that would challenge her are far and few between as Maroon 5 aren't as trendy as they once were, Katy Perry is slowly drowning her own career. If you ask me, only Ariana Grande can challenge Taylor Swift for pop stardom and hit parades, everyone else is looking up at the show. Expand

Sometimes overly busy album. ... Swift soars when she is most herself. [Jan 2018, p.112]

Part rumination on engaging with the pop icon and part deep end even after eating the meal, Reputation keeps the ball in the air, argues for moving forward, even if it’s herky jerky.

Swift’s unencumbered analysis of the tectonic shifts within her personal and public life are equal parts razor sharp and self-indulgent. But as a pop album, Reputation is never revolutionary, the adrenalin rush heady but ultimately short-lived.
