reputation is possibly Swift’s most intimate and important work to date. More than about feuds or gossip, reputation was about an artist finding their confidence and happiness in the midst of great isolation. With this record Swift allowed us to see her most vulnerable side under the heaviest of media scrutiny. In years to come, this will be considered a landmark pop album.

Taylor did it again... She was able to show that her music is bigger than her reputation. And whoever tries to dishonor her name and her music will be destined to pay a high price.

Highlight for the songs "I Did Something Bad", "Don't Blame Me" and "Delicate". They are certainly the masterpieces of this album. But there's also "King of My Heart," "Dancing With Our Hands Tied," "Dress,"

Inferior ao 1989, mas um ótimo álbum, é original a sua medida, letras bem escritas, só achei meio exagerado o uso do auto-tune, mas nada que prejudique tanto as músicas. Melhor música disparada é Call It What You Want (e uma das melhores da carreira dela).

A well crafted and masterfully written sharp and dark album that takes the listener to the rollercoaster of falling in love while having a bad reputation, something you are able to relate to even if you're probably not one of the biggest pop stars in the planet. Taylor takes her Swfitsonian game to another level, giving up on some of her best assets (like her previous Begin Again, Wildest Dreams, Dear John, Mine) in favor of some raunchy and powerful yet intimate performances (like Bad Blood and I Knew You Were Trouble). The stand-out tracks in this album are I Did Something Bad, Don't Blame Me, Gorgeous, Call It What You Want and Dress. The only -minor- disappointment is End Game, the track with Ed Sheeran and Future, which is premised with enormously high expectation that crumbles down under the pressure of having a Everything Has Changed 2.0 in the Reputation chords. Anyways, the album still shines through and places itself among the top 3 of her best albums. Expand

The old Taylor Swift is dead. But we like the new one better.

Taylor wears the bad girl outfit and go haunt trick or treats with all of her dejected resulting in a pop masterpiece that will make her reputation sounds even more interesting. Going to diss' tracks about her fight against some rapper, Taylor shows that she can write ironic and acid songs as good as she can write love ones.

Going to diss' tracks about her fight against some rapper, Taylor shows that she can write ironic and acid songs as good as she can write love ones. This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things is a pop-pity-party and you certainly want to be invited just to watch the circus show, while I Did Something Bad may catch you in doubt by the tittle, but make no mistake, she's feeling bad-ass and she's willing to do it all over again. And we want that! But, if you think she's caring too much about all this drama, even tho she knows that drama loves her, you are wrong. In Reputation there's songs about love. There's songs about one ex that she always had the bad feeling that wouldn't get her too a long ride, so she jumped into a Getaway Car and drove away (is like she says, you better leave before you get left) going straight to a perfect love that nobody was expecting, not even her! The soft sexy improved Taylor wanting her perfect lover to take off her Dress, the trademark she always liked to use when she was just too pretty and just too naive, goes all the way to the madly in love Taylor in New Year's Day, the kind of song that you want to live in it. Party, friends and happiness ends but somebody will stay to help you clean all the mess. Did you notice the metaphor? Because we did. We all are just like this Taylor lover. We came all the way down, we drunk all the bottles and we spread glitter all over the floor, but we stayed. Because Taylor Swift is just too good to miss.

Taylor Swift's sixth album surprised me more than I thought it would. Not only is it different from her previous work but she isn't shying away from the "I'm the villain of my OWN story, eff you" trope. The four pre-released songs didn't do this album justice in a way of story telling as much as the other songs. The best songs on the album seem to include the Ed Sheeran and Future collab 'End Game', the fire filled 'I Did Something Bad', and the comedic but "tea spilling" song, 'This Is Why We Can't Have Bad Things'. Each song on the album is one of those that deserves a music video so hopefully Taylor decides to make this album into a visual album. Expand

T-swift shows once again that she is in pure love and don't care about all the drama, the songs are consistent as for the people who wanted hear her response as the ones who only want a love story, good writing and production, the only problem she doesn't settle down what she really wants.

First impressions are way too different compared to the ones I had with the past albums, this album is completely different, I had the musical feeling of the past albums with only one song in this new one. You can feel a more mature, more serious, more determined Taylor Swift on this one.

I’ve listened to every single and album by TS, “Reputation” marks a new era for TS, it leaves the road so open for the upcoming album in around 3 years telling everybody that she isn’t locked to a style or genre, that anything ANYTHING can happen. She went on airplane mode for about a year, no interviews, no major online activity, no everything, low-key life 100% and boom, here you have it: a solid album targeting awards. Another best album GRAMMY? Not sure, yes, well, no, I don’t know, it’s just the first album play. Too many great albums these months. Time will tell.

I’m a professional EDM producer signed to major Trance labels and I can feel the huge effort put into this album, the Pop/EDM/Trap mixture is wonderful, innocent commercial Trap sound by the way, not the real nasty one hehe. Tons of great pop sounds merged with future bass synths, great synth LFO tweaks. This album has modern (futuristic) sounds everywhere, the Trap hi-hats are perfect. Vocoder use enhance Taylor’s voice properly. “…Ready For it?” is such a great song to start it all. Bass is so powerful that it hits your chest. “I Did Something Bad” is a storm of beats with crazy synths trying to mess with your mind. Did I mention that low frequency sounds are stunning on this album? Yes! “Dancing With Our Hands Tied” has a professional bass sound everywhere, the kick keeps pounding in your head without any introduction. Ed Sheehan & Future help Taylor to communicate a strong message on “End Game.”

Taylor took a new path in her life and music, the world saw this. This is like a 180 degree change. Now I’m curious about the tour, the live performances and more because I’m sure these will be different too. You will find only the singles released in the past weeks in streaming platforms. TS and her team are marketing experts, releasing the rest of the album everywhere except streaming platforms is brilliant, it attracts sales, an album sale is worth hundred times a streaming play. This era will affect her Reputation.

I was more than pleasantly surprised by how sharp and pointed some of the lyrics were and with Swift's improvement with the song times, with all of them clocking at or under the four-minute mark. The pre-releases for the record do not justify the overall work, and I strongly commend the lyricism and production, which was narrowed to a small group of producers, a trend becoming more and more popular in the current pop music landscape, where albums like 'Melodrama' (Lorde) are regarded in a fairer light than the airy, multi-producer, 'evil' pop. It goes without saying that, soundwise, reputation is quite differente from Taylor's previous albuns -- and I love it for it. Taylor is very adamant about never making two similar albuns and it goes to showcase how versatile a musician she is that she can still make f'cking good music and sell thousands upon thousands of copies while doing it. On that front, I think the album is flawless:It goes without saying that, soundwise, reputation is quite differente from Taylor's previous albuns -- and I love it for it. Taylor is very adamant about never making two similar albuns and it goes to showcase how versatile a musician she is that she can still make f'cking good music and sell thousands upon thousands of copies while doing it. On that front, I think the album is flawless: it's cohesive, a synthesized/futuristic pop that kicks off with guns blazing and sharp lyrics - some of the sharpest of her career. It's incredibly well done.

I have a few reservations about her lyrics, however. She has some true gems in this album: New Year's Day softness and vulnerability is amazing, I love the spin of the chorus in I did something bad and the entirety of Dancing With Our Hands Tied is very well-written. Despite that, I feel like a few of her songs were repetitive. In the behind-the-music video of Gorgeous we see her sing "my reputation precedes me", which didn't make the final cut to its original song, but wormed its way into the album through End Game. This just shows how interchangeable some of the lyrics are. I understand that, to an extent, it makes for a cohesive album, but I found myself thinking 'this again?' a few times along the way.

I don't think it takes away from the overall brilliantness of her lyrics, though. Even Gorgeous, a song that is considerably less emotionally deep than we expect from Taylor has a few spectacular lines, such as "There's nothing I hate more than what I can have/Guess I'll just stumble on home to my cats/Alone... / ...unless you wanna come along". I even love the chorus, I think the 'I can't say anything to your face/'cause look at your face' line is riveting.

Unlike some of the critics/listeners, I don't dislike the way she addresses her so-called nemesis. She keeps it to three songs out of fifteen (I did something bad, Look What You Made Me Do and This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things), which I consider necessary confessional pieces. The woman is a songwriter who writes about her feelings - it's ranting. "I did something bad" doesn't even portray her in a victim part and it's very unapologetic in its narrative (which I LOVE). And "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things" is heavily ironic - from the upbeat sound, which grates lightly on my nerves, to her unhinged laughter and the "I can't even say it with a straight face" dig.

On the other tracks of the album she does addresses her reputation/media image/public feuds, yes, but as things that have impact on her life, her relationships, her confidence. It may be addressed a few too many times for my writer sensibilities, which is why I found the lyrics repetitive at times, but I see it as an important part of her life that she had to address. Her reputation plays such a big part in her relationships - romantic and otherwise - it's the central theme of both love songs and personal/petty/dissing songs. After her last couple of years, it's perfectly understandable.

I didn't click with "So it goes" and "Delicate" is a tiny bit on the bland side of things for me, but otherwise I found all of reputation's songs engaging, powerful and a mix of combative and sexy Taylor has never tried before. I adore this new look, it showcases so many possibilities for her music. The deep bass and the incredibly well-done use of autotune shows me a thriving artist that feels comfortable both with just a guitar/piano and over-the-top, hyperproduced pop masterpieces.

The elements of hip-hop and R&B were greatly worked in the album..

And while I'm not sure about the strength of some songs to stand alone (such as "King of My Heart" and "Getaway Car"), they work wonderfully in the album, which is extremely enjoyable to listen back to back.

Overall I think it's a very strong album from Taylor. Yeah, maybe it lacks some of the lyrical genius of Red and Speak Now when it comes to emotional intelligence (which 1989 also didn't have, btw), but it's still /way/ above the average singer. Taylor always manages to find a way to make her lyrics relatable while using word play, catchy choruses and fantastic imagery, and that ability alone is enough to set her apart from the rest.

I love this direction and, while it could use some honing, I'm very much intending to listen to it a few million times and proceed to wait eagerly to what she does next -- and that is the mark of a truly accomplished artist, one from which their fans can't never get enough.

Y así vamos pasando, desde hablar de historias de amor tan dulces y prometedoras (Delicate, Don't Blame Me, Gorgeous, King Of My Heart, Dress, Call It What You Want, New Years Day). Pasando por historias que la marcaron (I Did Something Bad, So It Goes, Getaway Car, Dancing With Our Hands Tied) y como debía ser, acerca de su reputación (Ready For It, Look What You Made Me Do, This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things, End Game), hasta finalizar un trabajo discográfico que sí bien no es el mejor de ella, es uno de los mejores trabajos Pop del 2017-2018. "reputation" is an amazing album. Yes, it has sudden casualties, but that doesn't make it a bad work. I think that these genres experienced in the album look great with Taylor and I would like her to experience so much more with them in future works.

In 1989, her previous album, she has made her full arrival to the pop genre, with catchy, fun, and poppy hits that are widely known, even 5 years later. Reputation, on the other hand, is her metamorphosis that she goes through to become the artist that not the world wants her to be, but the artist she want to be, with the music she wants to make.
This album contains so many bops that will make you feel like a boss. Some of my favorite tracks from this album include Delicate, a fun, flirty, and even emotional song that is amazing to dance to, Getaway Car, a bop that also tells a story and is one of my favorite songs to sing out loud, and New Year’s Day, an emotional song that brings nostalgia. Also, the Look What You Made Me Do music video is literally a cultural reset. Anyways, I love this album, it’s probably my favorite Taylor Swift album, go listen to it if you haven’t already (it’s been almost 3 years)

Yet, as is the case more often than not, Taylor Swift comes through and pushes the new hottest singles of the year and makes a believer out of everyone, again. Reputation was a hard act to put in the spotlight after the superb "1989" proved Taylor was more than capable of being a pop heavyweight with more than just a hit or two. Here on Reputation, Taylor pulls some of the feel of "1989" and mixes it with some grittier electro-pop production which end up being some of the most interesting cuts available ("Don't Blame Me", "Look What You Made Me Do", "Ready For It"). Other potential hits include "Gorgeous" and "End Game", both featuring some of Taylor's established style and the later bringing in guest rap vocals to shake things up. As Reputation progresses, the gloss and grit slowly smooth out and it's more of "1989" which should be a welcomed fact for big fans that wanted more of the hit parade that was Taylor's last album. Reputation simply confirms that Taylor can hold her own atop the pop hill - dethroning her will take some serious muscle and those that would challenge her are far and few between as Maroon 5 aren't as trendy as they once were, Katy Perry is slowly drowning her own career. If you ask me, only Ariana Grande can challenge Taylor Swift for pop stardom and hit parades, everyone else is looking up at the show. Expand

Indeed, the sixth studio album from the Nashville-based superstar introduces a fiercer, more determined, and more experimental persona, with a sound that'll appeal to a wider audience than that of '"1989". On first listen, it might feel weird to listen to these brand-new polished-pop tracks, and what's even weirder is that it's hard to believe that they were made by the same person who made an album like "Speak Now".

There's no denying that Taylor really took a leap with this record: we heard her cuss for the first time ("I Did Something Bad"), sing about sex so explicitly ("Dress"), and even turn that little grin she sometimes put on previous songs into a full-on blown drunken-like laugh ("This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things"). Long gone is the story-telling, but the lyricism i still as sharp and as personal. The productions, the little vocal effects, the variations, and the auto-tune (there's tons of it on there) are all very-well done. Even though a track or two might feel boring ("So It Goes..." didn't click with me), there are a lot of songs that are sure to light fires inside of the listeners ("Getaway Car" is easily a highlight, "I Did Something Bad" and its outstanding witchcraft-referencing bridge, "Delicate" is so reminiscent of "Style", and the beautiful emotional demo-like closer "New Year's Day"). It's important to note that the parts where she's singing without auto-tune showcase her best vocal deliveries since she first started writing songs: her voice has grown deeper, and subtler.

In conclusion, this is definitely not Taylor Swift's best album, but it is very personal, and very cohesive, and very sonically-adventurous, and that's good enough to make an everlasting effect. But If one thing's for sure about this record, it's that it is definitely worth the hype.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The album is good for what it is a pure pop album. However it's highs being Gorgeous, Call it What you Want and Delicate, outweigh the very dull lows such as End Game which falters and lowers my overall review.

Ready For it: Has potential, the video ruined it. Great song lyrically and production wise.

End Game: wow... This is awful, I don't know the rapper but this is very unlike her. Not a fan of this song I think I will probably uncheck it. Lyrically the Taylor parts are decent but it goes no where nice message poor delivery. This will probably be a single and inescapable in 2018. I pray NOT because it is terrible.

I Did Something Bad: So she says the S word lol. She cheated on someone or broke their trust and it felt good? Ok Taylor. Later in the song she isn't necessarily referring to a lover. Just a vengeful pop song not sure if aimed at a man or Kanye/Kim/Katy.

Don't Blame Me: This could be a Demi Lovato song. filler track. Think Rihanna's rehab without anything that makes it good.

Delicate: very club heavy synth-pop. I'm sorry for the comparisons but this could be a Selena Gomez track... Taylor isn't singing she's doing the whisper ASMR thing Selena does.

Look What You Made Me Do: Still bad, vengeful lyrics, dated production, but catchy and great music video.

So it goes: ... "I'm not a bad girl but I do bad things with you" - this track actually gives me a headache. wow

Gorgeous: I'm currently in a relationship and this song is about that boy so I'm impartial and I like it. corny, cute, curt and classic Taylor.

Getaway Car: Is this the turning point of the album. Yes!!! . **** wow this song is so good :dizzy::goat:inlove

King of My Heart: decent, filler track. If I weren't a Taylor fan I'd say it were a KP reject track. :disappointed Nice lyrics, terrible production.:sleepy

Dancing With Our Hands Tied: Very good track- production and lyric wise. Sounds like everything that took over the radio in 2016 not sure if the GP will be here for this is 2018 though. Very big hit potential :hypnotized

Dress: hUH huh Huh, Taylor's sex moans. 'I don't want you as a best friend. Only bought this dress so you can take it off'. I'm uncomfortable, just odd. I would never have expected this from her, she is such a great song writer this sounds like an attempt at sensual R&B but the delivery is just awkward. I want to like it so bad but HUH HUH HUH.

This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things: Avril Lavigne but not nearly as effective. "If only you weren't so SHADY"- is that an actual lyric. I'm actually breaking down and in tears right now. I want to like it because I'm a fan but it's so bad. :(

Call it What you Want: Luckily this track is good.

New Years Day: Boring yawn :yawn

We may miss her work while she was doing country but I'm glad to see she can be an authentic artist no matter what she's singing about or whatever gender it is. The first time I listened to the album, I found it a little bit weird. But when you listen to it again being more in alert, you'll realize the songs in the album...they just MATCH with each other. It's so cohesive and also mature. It's not what we used to get from Taylor, it's brand new stuff, I think that's why I found weird in the beggining, but after that, you'll have no douts: This is one of the best pop albums from 2017. Congratulations, Taytay. And also... Please, come to Brazil. Expand

i loved the record and the concept behind it, we finally got the chance to see Taylor from another angle, she's giving up her pop star facade to show us the human behind it with her strengths and weakness, and that's what Reputation is about, it's about that feeling of freedom when you have nothing to lose ,so you feel confident to expose and embrace your vulnerabilities and expressi loved the record and the concept behind it, we finally got the chance to see Taylor from another angle, she's giving up her pop star facade to show us the human behind it with her strengths and weakness, and that's what Reputation is about, it's about that feeling of freedom when you have nothing to lose ,so you feel confident to expose and embrace your vulnerabilities and express yourself and you're feeling boldly because you're free from you're reputation so you get to be your real self as she sings "My reputation's never been worse/So you must like me for me" on the excellent fifth track "Delicate," she's brutally vulnerable and cautiously optimistic, and unlike other major pop releases this year she does it in a very intillegent cohesive way, showing us again that she's one of the best pop song writers of our age espicially when she comes out with lines such us "this is why we can't have nice things, darling,,...." . Reputation as whole is an album overcoming the external image and embracing the personal one, expressing those embarrassing feeling like your fear of commitment, sex, disliking someone, ending a toxic friendship unconcerned of how you look or your reputation in Taylor swifts case .sonically the album is a fest, it's pure pop magic a mixture of max martin and shellback electronic sound and jack Antanoff 80's synth pop. the album sounds bombastic and futuristic like an army takeover, it juxtaposes the confident and "in control" side of Taylor who's the center this time with a touch of 1989 warm soft pop in the back like a statement that Taylor is both of those personas. Personally, I think Reputation is one of the most successful pop albums of the year it could even take the first spot from Lordes masterpiece melodrama Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. New and old at the same time. New rithms and sounds (good point) but same topics in the lyrics as "1989", even though are so intimate and show us the real Taylor not just her reputation. She's one the best pop writers of our generation and she show it in this album. Amazing work Taylor!

And Gorgeous, Dress, Delicate and King Of My Heart have some issues, but, still, they`re great! Good Luck to Taylor) Expand

Reputation moves Taylor Swift further away from the country music she made her name with on her first 3 or 4 albums, but the move is not a bad thing. I think it's a great album but there's no mean it's the best, there songs that i can't imagine Taylor did, like DRESS, It has phrases that don’t represent the essence that Taylor has wanted to give during this new era, I know she said that old Taylor is dead, but the new one is too trusting, that's good in part but this song exceeds her reliability.

This isn’t her best work regarding

This isn’t her best work regarding the lyrics or composition of his songs to what she had us used to, for the rest of the album it has been very good, some songs with good sound from the beginning to the end like I DID SOMETHING BAD,DANCING WITH OUR HANDS TIED besides LWYMMD

A complete change from her past work. Lyrically more risqué and mature than her past albums. Less of a focus on lyrical quality on this album than sonic quality.

reputation was an album which I was waiting for in this year. I knew, that this is not going to be such a cutting-edge thing, but it is very tech-pop in its best. I'm not so sure that this is everything that Taylor could do, some of the songs are, like, from 1898, and i'm not happy with that.

This album shows Taylor's dark side, which is appealing to older age groups as well (21-30). I'm pleasantly surprised, that the whole album would be the mediocre and mainstream style of LWYMMD (my least favourite song). Compared to other albums, it's definitely not great, I'd say that 1989 was probably her strongest album along with Speak Now. 7.5/10 but I'll give 8 on this.

Sometimes overly busy album. ... Swift soars when she is most herself. [Jan 2018, p.112]

Part rumination on engaging with the pop icon and part deep end even after eating the meal, Reputation keeps the ball in the air, argues for moving forward, even if it’s herky jerky.

Swift’s unencumbered analysis of the tectonic shifts within her personal and public life are equal parts razor sharp and self-indulgent. But as a pop album, Reputation is never revolutionary, the adrenalin rush heady but ultimately short-lived.
