Oct 25, 2010This puts their first two albums to shame (and quite rightfully, I might add). Most tracks, and the album as a whole, cuts to the chase, delivers some genuinely enjoyable music and then gets the hell out of there. For the first time Audioslave actually leave me wanting more. Of course, I didn't get more because they disbanded soon after. Oh, the irony!

KyleMay 2, 2007I don't know what it is but the Audioslave formula seems to work for me.

BigTomCasualDec 7, 2006As far as this breed of music is concerned, Audioslave do pretty well at writing albums that i can throw on and rock out to with some buddies. If you accept that these guys aren't trying to do anything more complicated than, well, what they're doing - then you'll be able to enjoy this for what it is.

IrfanBNov 13, 2006Almost all songs in this album are catchy. Nothing extraordinary but consistent.

BrentNOct 9, 2006Superb fusion of funk & hardrock. Morello proves once again his absolute genius in writing riffs and intricate solo's. Cornell just gets better as a lyricist and a singer. Best album i've heard in last 2 years - easy.

LouOct 6, 2006I don't get the low rating that this album received. In my opinion, this is a very good album. I guess the "experts" do not like it because it doesn't sound like Britney Spears.

WadeTOct 3, 2006Revelations by Audioslave does that devils dance of being truly incredible at times while not doing enough to keep your attention as a whole. Revelations, One And The Same and Original Fire are some of the best Alt-Rock songs I've heard in a long-time, but the record as a whole doesn

MattCOct 3, 2006The album has 6 really kickin' songs. Check out Broken City...great song!

ClareOOct 2, 2006Interesting that many critics slammed this - I can remember the same thing happening to Led Zeppelin in the 70s, that same band who critics now universally acclaim. I sense prejudice at work. ;)

BDoveSep 21, 2006This is a fantastic album filled with great songs! I believe the critics must have cotton in their ears. When a 43 year old mom and her 14 year old son only disagree on the best track (mom: Shape of Things to Come; son: Wide Awake), you have something much better than average.

chazSep 11, 2006I love this new album. There isn't one song I can't listen to. They finally acheived their own sound and did what I feel Out of Exile failed to do. It is a perfect mix between the first 2 albums where Out of Exile was a little on the light side. Can't wait to hear the new songs live.

JJMortimerSep 10, 2006The already great band has finally come together as a powerful entity of memorable riffs and surprisingly powerful lyrics. Two of the songs ("Wide Awake" and "Shape of Things to Come") already feel Grammy worthy. A must buy for Audioslave fans, and a favored choice for rock album of the year.

-
ChadBSep 10, 2006Chris Cornell blows; Morello and rhythm section should go experimental/instrumental cause they rule.

Awards & Rankings
-
Rolling StoneMost of these twelve tracks are impressive structures with periodic highs... that never resolve into songs. [7 Sep 2006, p.105]
-
BlenderIn place of the band's distinctive head-banging limberness, there's a strange hybrid: a new sort of hard-rock soul, slightly lumbering in spite of its virtuosity. [Sep 2006, p.136]
-
Despite some missteps... this comes close to fulfilling the promise of Audioslave's pedigree.
