Wonderful to witness ICEAGE’s evolution over the last 10 years. Seek Shelter sets the band up for grand designs in their second decade. Not to be missed!

Such a left turn from their usual work and it works. Choosing lighter experimental sonic pallet they navigate narratives with genres while the frontman never misses a beat. The maturity of this record is one of it's best characteristics as the relentless aggression of their first three albums and the alt-pop of "Beyondless" aren't lost except honed and amped to tgeir extremes. The magnum opus (&single) "gold city" is so enjoyable that not repeating seems wrong as they pull off nick cave &the clash without sounding derivative. The black midi headache "vendetta" washes over you as it expands. This was a great rewarding listen. Favourites :gold city, vendetta, shelter song Expand

Iceage captures the idea of what solid rock once was; "Gold City" confirmed it to me. Impeccable production to maintain that 90s sound, very Oasis. Without a doubt, this is the album that can be turned into a space of defiance for all outsiders. Highly dangerous in mosh.

fav tracks: "Shelter Song", "Love Kills Slowly", "Drink Rain", "Dear Saint Cecilia" & "The Holding Hand" KEY-TRACK:

An album that channels the spirit of the greats (both gone and alive) in the best possible way. It's poetry, it's rock 'n' roll, it's danceable and it's thoughtful. A truly immersive piece of work, maybe they're most concise yet.

I love all the songs and sounds but everything is mixed too loud. It makes the songs feel cramped. Would be a 9 with toned back mix.

The Danish four-piece tapped Spaceman 3’s Sonic Boom for production on this uncharacteristically uplifting endeavor, and you can see the uneasy alliance of the bright colors of Peter Kember’s recent work mixing into the half melted, slushy desolation of Iceage’s aesthetic.

Exploring increasingly adventurous songwriting terrains and expanding their studio capabilities whilst managing to retain some of the fire that once sparked up their engines, Iceage have delivered another tour de force.

Seek Shelter isn’t the big, era-defining statement, but a transitional album for the quintet, opening up the possibility of rock’n’roll in their arsenal. While this stylistic choice doesn’t fit 2021’s overarching trends, it proves just how good Iceage are at transforming their sonic interests into full-blown epics.
