This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is totally a R&B album that is a Masterpiece that deserves way more recognition. This is a great example of how a real heartbreak can sound from women's perspective, that Toni's voice make it sound sexy, deep and smooth. Personally i think this album deserves a higher qualification and in a future, i would love to see this album winning categories like ''Best R&B Album. Expand

Um trabalho maduro que traz a diva toni braxton com sua voz profunda, sexy e marcante. Fica provado que o tempo só ajudou em seu trabalho

Glossy tracks, shame there are only 8 tracks when Toni confirmed she had recorded 15. It isn't as instant as her previous albums and could have done with a "bop" but some gorgeous tracks still. Particularly 'Long as i live'

There is palpable anger in her voice on Sex & Cigarettes, but beneath it is a deep sea of tranquility, and it’s the latter tone that defines her performances on this album.

Braxton’s tunes here rarely warrant her gusto, and the coupling of virtuoso performances with rather mediocre material squares with Sex & Cigarettes’s larger theme of the dissatisfaction that results from pouring one’s heart into an undeserving relationship. It’s a depressing album, but not quite in the way that’s intended.

If Braxton, 50, collaborates more broadly on Sex & Cigarettes, she's still zeroed in on the rich emotional territory she explored on "Love, Marriage & Divorce."
