Amazing album. Personally I find it better than Monolith, but just like the first album it is amazing how the two separate sounds have come together. I feel like this album shows that this isn't (or shouldn't be) some temporary Claypool side project. This group is epic and it needs to continue.

An amazing album. Every song is a trip that is only multiplied on a run through listen of the album. I am really excited to see what they'll do next. Cant get enough. Must listen.

Amethyst Realm, Little Fishes, Boriska, and Blood and Rockets are top songs. This group is amazing, hope they'll join again to make another album.

It’s challenging music, especially for newcomers to their sound. What makes the challenge rewarding is the elasticity of their work, giving the record a sense of scope that underpins the gonzo array of aesthetics they’ve sewn together here. South of Reality, ultimately, is a great album, but more importantly, it’s a great adventure.

The many moods of South Of Reality are both rewarding and unsettling, as if the music exists on shifting sands, and as the work of two wide and creative imaginations, it's tough to beat. [23 Feb 2019, p.55]

You certainly feel stimulated, but as with those frenzied, uber-detailed set pieces on modern-day CGI animation movies, there's almost too much to process. [Mar 2019, p.91]
