    This comeback record--the band's first since 2006--feels like their most mature, seasoned and solid body of work to date and also, it feels like they're pressing forward like never before in a world mangled by torn emotions.

    The new Rainer Maria is slower, heavier, and more methodical than the old one. They swing less but land more blows.

    The best compliment it can be given is that it doesn’t sound like the band took a decade-long hiatus: Rainer Maria’s songs feel as natural as anything else in the band’s catalog.
