I don't care what anyone says, I hail this album as the best album of all time. It has so many songs on it and they all are great. Usually albums have 15-18 songs and 2,3 maybe 4 are good. Stadium Arcadium has 28 songs and they all are great.

This might be their best album to date. The only reason I don't give this a 10 is that I think they could do much better. No. This isn't perfect, but so many of the songs on the album are genius. At least 18 out of the monumental 28 tracks are some of their best. But the rest are still great. One of the greatest displays of guitar work ever. To me, the lyrics are way underrated and the long album is just what the Chilis needed. A great album for John to leave on.

If you took the best 12 or 13 songs from this sprawling double record, you'd still have a pretty dull, funk rock affair. There are half a dozen good songs, another half dozen average songs and over a dozen tracks that just act as filler. That's way too much filler by anyone's standards. Dani California is very good but very little to like apart from that.

An album full of tame, uninteresting mid-tempo rock. Without the pop harmonies of By the Way or blazing energy of Blood Sugar Sex Magik, you realize that Anthony Kiedis doesn't really have anything to say. With the rhythm section stepping back, this is now another typical four-piece rock band. The musicianship is technically great... but so is Yanni's. Listen before you buy.

I feel that this album is their best work to date. The band really seems to gel on this album. There seems to be no competition on this album, everyone is at their best and each is given a chance to shine without interupting the flow of the track. It's a mature effort put forth by the peppers and it really does surprisingly fill two CD's nicely.

There are no stunning leaps forward, Anthony Kedis continues to struggle writing lyrics and then annunciating them in a way that goes along with the music (see his strange pronunciation of "Universally Speaking" off the last record). What the band does well, of course, is allowing pop maestro John Fruciante to design pretty much everything else in the background. Vocally, Fruciante and Flea are now the heart of this band, especially when Kedis tries (and fails) to rap, and there are a few guitar solos reminicient not of the Ernie Isley funk they've been playing for so long but of David Gilmour's best Pink Floyd work. The album's production, of course, is horrendous. Rick Rubin might be the single most overrated producer in history, and the flaws bleed through on this record. For example, the title track, which I think is probably the best song on the album, is a natural progression from great tunes like "Tear" and "Dosed" . . . and yet there seems to be something magic in those two songs that "Stadium Arcadium" and nearly every other track on the record is missing. Despite these obvious flaws, the record is still worth hearing...at least, half of it. As with most double albums, there's really no reason for about half the songs to even exist. It makes "Stadium Arcadium," through all its sameness, an ultimately unfulfilling record. The Chili Peppers need to stick to what they've become so good at: writing great pop singles that make the audience feel like they're driving through Southern California. Expand

The more you listen to this album, the better it gets. It's really wonderful. This coming from a jaded indie kid, the Chilis must have done something right.

you people dont know what youre talking about. for those of you that say "its not as good as blood sugar" you dont understand the fact that this album isnt meant to be a rehashing of their old material, its the next step forward in their musical careers. This album is ingenious, almost every song has something distinct about it that separates it from anything youve ever heard before. 28 songs is more like an epic than an album, and the fact that around 26 of them are unskippable is a true testament to how hard this bad strives to please their fans and the music world. I am probably one of the biggest chili peppers fans youll ever meet, and this album surpassed even my expectations. Bravo. Expand

This album pushes funk right back in your face - Its Fantastic. The Chili's on there 9th album have now and have some more chopy an relaxed tunes, down the same line as the foo's did with there double album. Do not forget though its a much stronger album with some fantastic music.

A John Fruciante masterclass. It's awe-inspiring to hear a guitarist who is not afraid to explore the guitar and not just fuck around fast on the fretboard. A concert of an album

Agree with a lot of what Brendan D says - poor production, specifically, but also the comparisons to All That You Can't Leave Behind. The Chilis are in that U2/REM stratosphere now, and unfortunately that means invention is low and consolidating is high. Shame. Anyone giving this 10 - you should be ashamed of yourselves. Go and dust off a copy of Blood Sugar Sex Magik immediately. Agree with a lot of what Brendan D says - poor production, specifically, but also the comparisons to All That You Can't Leave Behind. An utterly unremarkable album full of cliched tunes with trite lyrics. Bland, boring, with not one shred of originality. Another boring effort from a band that has yet to write more than four original songs.

Maybe a couple tracks of filler, but on the whole the album satisfies with at least 20 perfect tracks.

What can you say? It might not be another BSSM, but it is still an awsome album. Though SA is a double, it doesn't sound tired or forced. Soundtrack for the summer of 2006!

'Stadium Arcadium' is absolutely amazing! I love this album, it just keeps getting better and better with each listen. Its rockin, funky, melodic, beautiful, soulful, its everything I've come to love about this band in the 16 years I've been a fan, and so much more.

The chilis just cemented their legacy as one of the greatest bands of all time. They're the Beach Boys of alternative rock. It's really of that caliber. John Frusciante is apparently no longer human. You can hear it in his fingering on songs like Snow and Turn. His performance on this CD puts him in the same pantheon as Hendrix and Page. Kiedis' lyrics aren't poetry. I The chilis just cemented their legacy as one of the greatest bands of all time. They're the Beach Boys of alternative rock. It's really of that caliber. Kiedis' lyrics aren't poetry. I don't think they're meant to be. I don't care. He's single-handedly forging a revolution in melodic singing. You give into melody and not be a pussy. The couple of One Hot MInute style tracks like Storm, Strip, and Warlocks aren't my favorites. But that leaves 25 of some of the greatest songs I've ever heard. Only the Chilis could fuse their 2nd era with their 1st to create a song like Charlie. Made You Feel Better is pure bliss. The arrangements on Snow and Wet Sand still have me sitting on the edge of my figurative seat waiting for the last 2 minutes after many listens. When Flea and Chad are in sync, it's perfection. Listen to Torture Me. Get this album. If you can't afford it, get it anyway. Support the greatest band in the world making music today by seeing them in concert. Expand

Hi I have been listening to this band since 1988. Mothersmilk was the build up to the best album created: BLOOD SUGAR SEX MAGIK. Every song on that album speaks volumes of powerfull energy and passion. Everysong flows into one another seamlessly. Anthony voice has changed since then, I think he should stop singing pop melodies. Maybe he should revisit his voice in Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Hi I have been listening to this band since 1988. I'm sad that Anthony can't lead like he did in BSSM. I'm not saying he can't do it, I'm saying lost his way abit. Anthony if you perhaps you read this, go back to your roots, skip the ring a ring a rosie crap... Robert Expand

However the album is at its best when the funk of flea is free to mingle with the outstanding guitar work and at times reaches the peaks of higher ground, suck my kiss et al. Worth buying but just remeber to use the programable selectio on your hi fi. One last point tensions within the band seem obvious since on the non funk songs fleas playing is obviously not as enthused as it is on the funk songs and Mr k sounds half hearted on the funk songs. 1. Stadium Arcadium ensures that graying Lollapalooza-era fans, indie teens, and rowdy lunkheads will all be satisfied.
  2. Somewhere along the line the Chilis got sophisticated on our asses.
  3. Frusciante's guitar work... almost single-handedly saves the project, but not quite.
