    First listen to Evan Weiss Into IT Over IT for me. I am sure some confuse him with Ben Gibbard from Death Cab but the harmonies, guitar and vocals are incredible. Smooth acoustic guitar work and hard riffs abound throughout. A little something for everybody with this CD release so if you lean toward eclectic you will be pleasantly surprised.     Considering the lucid, poignant albums to come to fruition from cabin writing retreats (Bon Iver’s ‘For Emma, Forever Ago’, Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Nebraska’ etc.)--Standards is an album that is almost completely devoid of such clarity and space.

    Weiss is a smart, heartfelt performer whose stories rarely veer into overwrought territory, though the lukewarm acoustic fluff that occasionally lingers throughout Standards bogs down an otherwise affecting and perceptive listen.
