While not quite reaching the high heights of Nas' debut, Illmatic, it still serves as an amazing comeback for the artist as well as an all-time classic.

One of the best Nas albums for sure. He starts the album excellently with that banger of an intro. Followed by Ether, which he rips Jay Z appart in and pretty much sets the golden standard for any diss track. “Got ur Self A” is a great song with good production and Nas in his lyrical bag. Rewind is exceptional where Nas tells a story from end to start. One Mic, is one of the best songs Nas has ever recorded and 2nd childhood pairs him back with DJ Premier in a great way. The Flyest is a great collaboration between Nas and Az, and while Rule goes under the radar, I think it is a pretty good song. What Goes Around is a great song at the end of the album to ensure that Nas is truly back after everyone thought he was done for. Favorite tracks : Stillmatic ( Intro ), Ether, Got Ur Self A, Rewind, One Mic, 2nd Childhood, What Goes Around

After his worst album in Nastradamus, two years later Nas has made one of the greatest comeback albums of all time. Speaking of Jay-Z, on the second track of the album, Nas's diss song Ether is one of the greatest diss songs I have ever heard in my life and because of the song Ether proves that Nas won the war against Jay-Z. The Production is on fire, the beats are dope, his lyrics are a huge improvement on the album, and all the songs are fun to listen. Although my least favorite song on the album is Braveheart party because the song was too corny, everything else is fine though so yeah. Stillmatic is one of the best comeback albums of all time. I Highly recommended it Expand

After a good but flawed "I Am..." and a very underwhelming "Nastradamus", Nas made a comeback with "Stillmatic". With very good beats, intelligent lyrics and hard-hitting performances, Nas did not let us down with the album, whose title references the legendary "Illmatic", even if it didn't come close to its quality and impact.

Imo this would've been just as good as Illmatic and It Was Written if it wasn't for that 'Braveheart Party' track. What a comeback to form, Nas here really claims the crown of NY. "Here's another classic!"

An album that never fails to please, it's smooth and aggressive at the same time. It's beats are extravagant and of course his rhymes are poetic, detailed and never fail to deliver. Also great production from
Megahertz, Baby Paul, Chucky Thompson, DJ Premier and Large Professor etc. Overall a pretty solid project and in my opinion, A CLASSIC!

A classic Nas album. Stillmatic is a strong LP that contains some of Nas' greatest songs from the aggressive Jay Z diss "Ether" to the retrospective "What Goes Around", to the creative storytelling in "Rewind". The album only has one dud, and it is "Braveheart Party", however, everything else is greatness.

while i do believe that stillmatic is overrated, it is a comeback to form for nas. from one mic his best song since his illmatic days), to 2nd childhood, to the brutal ether, to the subtle disses in got ur self a, this album is amazing. production could've been better, but his lyricism makes up for it.

Nas is much like Ice Cube in a sense. They had made fantastic albums from the start, but then they had dropped their talents, and came back in a huge way. They had made fantastic albums from the start, but then they had dropped their talents, and came back in a huge way. At first Nas was just a rapper trying to prove that he could be just as good as the legend. He did. Nas' debut album Illmatic is not only one of the greatest hip hop albums of the 90s, but it is also one of the greatest hip hop albums. It was not only acclaimed by fans, but it was also acclaimed by critics as well. Then Nas, like many other acclaimed rappers, had to prove that he could keep his skill. Fortunately he did, with his fantastic sophmore album, It Was Written. Unfortunately, the album was seen as a sophmore slump by both critics and the hip hop community. Later, it would be seen as a classic. In 1999, Nas dropped the album I Am... It was a mediocre album that had a few great songs, but it wasn't the album that Nas should have dropped. It was originally supposed to be a double album, called I Am... The Autobiography. This is what the album should have been, but we were left with an average album. Then Nas was going to put out an album that was supposed to be a compilation album of songs from the original I Am... sessions. But Nas for some reason had decided to scrap this idea (fortunately he had released these songs in the classic compilation The Lost Tapes), and record entirely new songs. It was a big mistake, as the album was panned upon release. Nas had went from "top ten to not mentioned at all" and he was in trouble. Not only was his rival Jay Z getting critical and commercial praise on his album The Blueprint, but his personal life was falling apart. Amidst the chaos, Nas had recorded an album that would widely be known as a comeback. He dropped the instant classic, Stillmatic. It is not a sequel to his original masterpiece, but it is a very similar album in tone. Not only had Nas created an album that was as good as his original classic, but he had created an album that brought him back on top once again. Expand

After Nastradamus, Nas was almost not king of NY. Well with Stillmatic, he redeemed himself and I'd say he still is king of NY and always will be when he is rapping with advanced lyricism, and good production which are two reasons why Nas is the best of the game today. This is the definition of his name Nasty Nas, striking with another classic.
