    It packs copious groove, Monument Valley-scale riffs, decent songs, and an Al Green homage which only lacks a Premier League singer to take it to the heavens. [May 2019, p.119]

    Like the best Stones songs, there’s never any dating Keith’s immortal spirit, and Talk Is Cheap holds its head high as it relentlessly reaffirms that that was indeed some knife.

    Like the skull ring and handcuffs on the sleeve, some things never change and, with its seductive bite and defiant energy, Talk Is Cheap is still a compelling centrifugal presence amid the bells and whistles. It remains the best Stones-related solo album.
