    I came to this after hearing "Front Row Seat To Earth" and "Titanic Rising" which has undoubtedly tainted my opinion of this one somewhat, such is the greatness of the other 2 records. Perhaps "The Innocents" benefits when listened to in isolation from the others. "Some Winters" is incredible and is the album standout. Throughout the album there is a feel of music from another age and II came to this after hearing "Front Row Seat To Earth" and "Titanic Rising" which has undoubtedly tainted my opinion of this one somewhat, such is the greatness of the other 2 records. Perhaps "The Innocents" benefits when listened to in isolation from the others. "Some Winters" is incredible and is the album standout. Throughout the album there is a feel of music from another age and I don't mean from another decade. You could imagine some of the stuff being played in the court of some king a few centuries ago while other material sounds like it comes from some dystopian future Earth. Although quite a different record, it brings PJ Harvey's "Let England Shake" to mind at times. Despite have a core of folk music, its a trippy enough album in places. The haunting, quasi religious vocals and the sparse accompaniments give lie to a complex set of songs. A nice precursor for what would follow.… Expand

    It was a really good debut album she served and she did it good, congrats, she is so talented and it shows

    Not quite folk songs or noise experiments or vocal soundscapes or really anything you can pin down by category, they are nonetheless very beautiful and as quietly striking as any music you’ll hear this year.

    If you think you’ve heard songs more successful at melodrama and heavy mood than “Bad Magic” or more successful at the naked, perennial mode of “pure beauty” than “Requiem For Forgiveness,” I want you to forget them, because you are kidding yourself.
