I only recently got back into the grove of listening to all country albums, because I love country music. This is the best album so far this year that I have listen to...When i first listened to it, i could not figure out what the fuss(85) was all about, but i let it sit and gave it more listens, and its absolutely awesome. This is the best album so far this year that I have listen to...When i first listened to it, i could not figure out what the fuss(85) was all about, but i let it sit and gave it more listens, and its absolutely awesome. It is very quiet, low tone, no overwhelming productions which isn't good and bad in of itself but her lyrics carries the album and her vocal is smooth and comforting. Like a thunder, home, fawn, and many others, I have like 7 favorite songs on this album Expand

This is an album (her ninth overall including two self-released ones and fifth on her longtime label No Quarter) from a singer/songwriter at the top of her game.

It’s satisfying to hear Shelley’s sound growing more verdant, the way carefully tended topiary fills out in spring. But the words and her phrasing remain the heart of what she does, and the judicious spaciousness of these settings feels both admirable and essential, crafting austerity that’s as much bounty as balm, and as celebratory as it is reflective.

Nuanced writing, full of tender challenges to lost souls, and Shelly's warmest sound yet. [Jul 2022, p.92]
