    Iit’s hard to deny that the blistering riffs of A Stare Bound in Stone, Daggers of Black Haze and it’s ass-kicking title track demonstrate a pitch-perfect excellence in death metal you only get from seasoned pros in the genre.

    Although the new record doesn't exactly expound on their formula--tremulous rhythms paired with truly singable guitar leads--it does contain some memorable songs in "Palace of Lepers" and "The Chasm."

    There are a few more stately and sombre moments, like the atmospheric Daggers Of Black Haze, bu this is still At The Gates absolutely owning their sound and their legacy. [19 May 2018, p.55]
