Too many people are taking the piss out of ROHS for sounding similar to Spoon...they do indeed have a similar sound, but I don't think ROHS are ripping Spoon off-- Tree City is a great rock record that deserves better reviews.

Robbers sound like Spoon? - yes. Spoon a good band? - yes. Therefore we should just be able to accept Robbers and their brilliant, catchy melodies.

Robbers on High Street have an old time sound making their way into modern times. I believe that there sound is original, and Ben Trokan's voice is amazingly melodic.

I picked this up, and wow, was I sorry. Derivative, pretentious, and utterly boring. Go get a Spoon CD instead.

This whole "sounds like Spoon" thing is so tired - did everyone just steal Pitchfork's (lame) review idea? This record is awesome - "Price & Style" is my favorite, but I dig the dancier tracks, too. Anyone who doesn't check this record out because of stupid reviewers will regret it, seriously.

It's just lovely, refreshing, non-pretentious catchy greatness. Listen to it!

On the surface the album sounds good, but they need to develop their own sound a bit more. Litterally sounds like they held Britt Daniel of spoon hostage and forced him to make a record for them.

I think this is a great album because they have a Ben Folds Five sound, with a touch of Gomez and the Lyrical content of stephan jenkins from Third eye blind...thats it, they are just cool man!!!

I think this is a great album. Catchy and Fun. If it has a fault it is a bit short. That leads me to listen several times through. Apparently they sound like Spoon I will check them out next.

  1. The curiously lifeless production means that several listens are necessary before the songs' charms are fully revealed.
  2. The production seems a bit slick, as if the group was going for some Interpol-type success, while the songs would perhaps be better served at a studio like Easley in Memphis.
  3. Most of Tree City sounds lifted from Britt Daniel's songbook. By that, I don't mean it sounds somewhat like it. I mean, it sounds like they stole the tapes from Britt's house and scribbled their name over his.
