Although Trench is a concept album, it doesn't require you to understand the story for you to enjoy it. One thing I can say is that this is their most cohesive album yet. The sound, the instrumentation, the lyricism show a more mature side of them. I still can't figure what my favourite song on this album but the 3 strong contenders are Neon Gravestones, Bandito, Chlorine and My Blood.

This album shows so much growth and maturity from the duo. You will not hear better production on a record this year (Levitate is a GREAT example of this). Tyler Joseph is putting his all into writing and singing here. Josh Dun moves songs forward, and really drives the album. Overall, this is about as close to perfect as an album can get. It has many mature, slow burning songs that add new things at every turn. Listen and you will NOT be disappointed.

I love this album. Their concert tour for this album was awesome. You can really feel the emotion in some of their lyrics. While there are slow songs there are also some bangers. Pet Cheetah and Leave the City come to mind. Truly great album and I can`t wait for the next one

Right from the start this album delivers freaking bops, you can really tell the time and passion gone into these songs and when listening to the album you don't get bored. It may take more than one listen to really delve into the lyrics and meaning behind them.
It's hard to pick but my favourite tracks would be Morph, Legend, My Blood and Cut my lip.

The only bad thing i have to say is that i wish the album had a bigger finish, although the last song Leave The City with some great vocals and meaning, i wish the album finished with more passion much like the screamed lyrics at the end of Jumpsuit. Either way, brilliant album.

The album, which has 14 songs, is probably the best this band have ever produced, because it has a great mix of musical styles, like from The Hype to Levitate, that are completely different. It talks a lot about mental illnesses, like Blurryface, but in Neon Gravestones the suicide relation is very clear. Nico and the Niners is probably the fan's favorite, because it's the "face" of the band, due to the clear Schizoid genre it presents. I haven't listened to their debut album yet, but both Vessel and Blurryface were underwhelming to me. Both were just emo mainstream pop-rock disposable collection of songs that aren't cohesive enough. In Trench, not only did top improve their sound, but they also improved here in terms of tracklisting; the album is consistent and cohesive enough to be taken seriously. Also, unlike the two previous album, this album actually has less cringeworthy lyrics and these lyrics are actually interesting and make the album more effective than it already is instrumental-wise. Too bad the album ends on a cliffhanger, since I was actually invested with the album. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm legitimately excited to see what twenty one pilots does next.

Trench is twenty on pilots' best record to date, and I hope they can only ascend in quality from here.

Legend is the most emotional song on the album that exposes Tyler's feelings about losing his grandfather. It's probably because of my extremely high expectations for Blurryface that this didn't click with me. Morph 10/10 see above. My Blood 9/10 amazing beat with good singing and lyrics but it isn't as good after a couple plays but after a break it is. Chlorine 9.5/10
Jumpsuit 8.5/10 good lyrics amazing singing and the bass is really hard hitting and good but it wasn't a good choice foe a single.
Levitate 10/10 amazing beat with amazing lyrics with and an amazing deliveries and flows.
    Morph 10/10 see above.
My Blood 9/10 amazing beat with good singing and lyrics but it isn't as good after a couple plays but after a break it is.
Chlorine 9.5/10 beautiful beat and amazing singing but lyrics were confusing before i checked them, the only reason it wasn't a 10 is because it is too long.
Smithereens 8/10 it is a great track but it was forgettable in the first few listens but it grew on me, it is a great song but isn't really interesting.
Neon Gravestones 10/10 the best written track in the album with an amazing beat and absolute amazing lyrics and singing.
The Hype 8/10 this is also was a forgettable song before it grew on me but now it is really good.
Nico And The Niners 8.5/10 this is a great song but there is something that is holding it back.
Cut My Lip 8/10 good beat and singing and good lyrics.
Bandito 10/10 this an amazing track it is beautiful and the build up has an amazing result amazing lyrics and singing.
Pet Cheetah 8/10 if an light 8 is the worst song on an album you know it is great, this is a great song with some parts of the beat holding it from being a 9.
Legend 9/10 an amazing song about Tyler's granddad that passed away, lyrics singing and beat are beautiful.
Leave The City 9.5/10 amazing lyrics and melody but it drags a bit in the end.
overall 9 it is a beautiful album definitely twenty one pilots best work, one of the best albums in 2018.

It's dealing with mental issues and loving yourself and lots of messages like this. Every song is unique and has a single potencial. I can't explain how good is Tyler Joseph's vocals. The album isn't Blurryface, but this doesn't mean it's worse than it. Like all the other TOP songs, we have emotion, lyrics and good beats. It's worthy listening to it if u really like their job, but don't go expecting you are going to listen some kind of "blurryface part 2". They evolve and their music will change with them.

There are only a few negatives. "Bandito" as a track feels like it takes up too much time and I don't fully connect with the vague idea of the track. "Pet Cheetah" does work in the context of what it is about but I am not a fan of how tacky it feels. "Smithereens" loses the album's amazing 5-track momentum up to that point a bit, but still works incredibly well as a song.

Despite the variety of genres and styles, each track feels like it comes from the same place. I have seen most of these songs live in concert, and Jumpsuit felt so incredibly powerful with its piano verse of defeat. This album has helped me the most out of any out there, and Jumpsuit is still my favourite song to perform live.

Take my recommendation and forget about the most deeply conceptual parts of this concept album--which just seems like a lot of work--and enjoy the many parts of Trench that don’t require a thirst for symbolic origin stories. There are plenty of these, like “Morph” and “My Blood,” which sport falsetto R&B hooks, somewhat in the tradition of the previous album’s best track, “Heavydirtysoul.”
