Perfectly crafted sounds, one of the best Sigur Rós albums, if not the best.

Sigur Rós returning to what they do best – gorgeously textured high octane melodrama. After all these years, no one does euphoric meloncholy quite like this band. Hopefully this will not be their last.

This may go down as their best album. It takes a few listens to sink in, but it's music for any moment.

This is definitely an album that requires close attention and multiple listens to really grasp its complexity. Not as overtly melodic as some of my favorite early work by the band, but taken as a single sprawling composition it's truly beautiful and uplifting.

I mean, I'm not against it, of course, and it is not that I don't follow the existence of this electro-instrumental ambient experimentation, etc. It is just that it is not very exciting. There is an admirable size to this project that it kind of makes you stick to it, kind of wanting to watch it and, at least, see it move and breath and evolve and, you know, happen, but with no eyes on the matter, this just sounds like a very long soundtrack to a sensible emancipation of two objects, there is not even a climax to this story, just a long breath that changes in its own rhythm, a very steady rhythm, with reasons that fail to exist. This sensible ambientation would've been more appreciable if there would be a narrative on the production, you know, like an adventure that the very same music offers, and not just a happening that sounds beautiful and careful. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Together with Valtari and ( ), a trilogy of priceless and unparalleled beauty takes shape with ÁTTA. A powerful and moving album (or rather experience), among the band's finest. Out of all the songs, I highlight SKEL, a true masterpiece. Expand

It pitches up somewhere between devotional music, modern classical and shoegaze and plays as a set piece, though the powerful ebb and flow of "Skel" stands out. [Nov 2023, p.32]

While not the project's most mind-bending or boundary-pushing album, it’s their most stunningly gorgeous, and a successful, timely countermeasure to the symbolic cover art depicting a rainbow in flames.

Sigur Rós have already proven themselves across their lengthy career, and now, they’re peaking their heads out yet again and making clear they shouldn’t be counted out.
